Chapter 66

"I can't do this" Alex said as Luke finished erasing the black board from class.

" sure you can"

"no I can't! Why do you even want me to talk to him? Do you want to get rid if me" she ended quietly.

"you bloody well know that isn't why!"

"then what?!"

"because if you don't do it now you're always going to wonder. And ill be damned if my wife will be wondering about what could've been with another man when she's thirty."

"I don't need to talk to him Luke! I love YOU. Only you. I don't care about him"

"but you do."

"no I don't"

"Alex he was your first everything almost. Your heart still holds a place for him. You need this."

"whatever" Alex said storming out the door. She went and sat by the fountain in the middle of campus. After about half an hour there she made a disgusted noise and pulled out her phone.

'we need to talk' - Alex

'ok'- lee

Alex rolled her eyes. He knew she hated when he did one word replys.

'where are you?'- Alex

'home. In the shop working on my truck'- Lee

'can I come over?'-Alex

'yea'- lee

She sighed and flipped her phone closed.

"here's goes nothing"

Alex took a deep breath and pushed open the garage door. Lee's head shot up from looking over in the truck hood with a wrench dangling between his fingers. Those brown eyes collided with hers

and alexs breath stopped . She quickly looked away to gather her thoughts.

"we need to talk"

"yea that's what you said in the message" he said putting his head back down and tightening whatever was loose.

"did you even consider us friends after we broke up?"

"yea of coarse" he said straightening up and wiping his hands on his jeans.

"no you didn't" Alex scoffed.

Lee gave her a confused look.

"I considered you a friend..." Alex said nodding.

"you considered me a piece of ass you knew you could get when you wanted it."

Lee stayed silent. Those brown eyes she had once loved so much were firmly fixed on the garage floor.

"why did you do that to me? What did I do to make you hate me this much?"

"I don't hate you" he whispered.

"liar" Alex choked out.

"I don't"

"then what? What did I do? Please tell me because I'd love to know. You knew how much sleeping together meant to me! Yes it MEANT SOMETHING to me. But it meant nothing to you." she said getting frustrated. She was starting to talk with her hands and her heart felt like it was in over drive.

"why me? Did you do it because you knew I'd let you?"

"for the most part." he whispered again

Alex let out a bitter laugh.

"so you used the fact that I loved you against me to get what you wanted, correct?"

He nodded.

"why..."

He stayed silent.

"damn it lee tell me why!"

"I don't know!" he yelled

"I didnt want to hurt you it just happened that way. You never did anything to me. You're a good person and you've always been good to me. I just I lost whatever we had. I can't even remember when I lost it"

Even now those words felt like red hot fire pokers burning into her skin.

"so why didn't you leave me alone? Just be my friend? You kissed me first damn it!" the last sentence ended on a sob. That's only when she realized she was crying.

" Alex I'm sorry."

"that's all you can ever say is you're sorry. Yes you're sorry lee tell me something I don't know"

"I'm sorry I broke your heart."

Alex let out a watery laugh.

"break my heart.." she chuckled.

"everything would be so much easier if you'd just stuck with breaking my heart.

Breaking up with me for no reason... That broke my heart." she said nodding while he watched her pace the floor.

"kissing me after we had broken up... Giving me hope only to snatch it away. Telling me you could only sleep with me If you were drunk." she laughed again.

"that broke me"

"Alex-" he began but stopped when she held up her hand.

"you broke my trust, my love, my hope... You broke me as a person. And you should be so ashamed of yourself for that."

"I am" he said quietly.

"no you're not. Tomorrow you'll

Act like this never happened." she said motioning between them with her hand.

"I wish I was the girl I was when we stated dating because then I could tell you that you lost someone amazing. But I'm not that girl anymore. I'm sad and I'm broken but as messed up as I am... I deserve much better than you."

"so I'm sorry... Im sorry that I'm done. I'm sorry I finally give up. I'm sorry that all you do is take and I have nothing to give you anymore. I am so disappointed in the person you've become"

Lee's gaze had turned blood shot. He wasn't crying but there was definately some emotion there.

Alex wiped her eyes with her fingertips.

"there's no point in me crying over this because you've made your choice and I've made mine. But you did me wrong. And on one hand I want you to fall in love and be so happy and then her break your heart. But on the other hand I'd never wish this feeling on anyone."

"I don't know what to say" he whispered

"there's nothing you can say. It's done and over. But I guarantee you're going to look back one day and think damn that girl really did love me. And when that moment happens... I'm going to be happy and not thinking twice about you. And maybe then you'll get a taste of your own medicine and see how bitter it really is."

He stared at her and before she knew it she was standing infront of him. Those brown eyes bore down on her and Alex took in his every feature. His puppy dog brown eyes, his brown curly hair. Those full lips she'd kissed a thousand times. His chin showing the tell tell signs of scruff. She couldn't deny it. Lee was beautiful and there was still a part of her that loved him even though she thought she'd killed it.

"I'm sorry" he whispered again.

Alex brought her hand up and slapped him hard across the face. His head whipped to the left and he kept his eyes closed.

"me too" Alex whispered as she ran out the door.

A/N

Hey guys! So this scene is very important to me and I'd really love to hear your thoughts on it. And I wanted to explain that in the last chapter Alex's dream was real. It did actually happen at one point. It was a memory she was reliving through a dream..... And to reveal a secret. All these past two chapters actually happened to me.... Yes I have my own Lee. So writing these chapters I'm pretty much reliving it. I just haven't found my Luke to heal me yet.. Sigh... Oh well. Anywho! Stay tuned lovelies!
