An Assignment From Boss Jean

Y/n continued to walk her way back to the city. She had asked Avieer where he got the idea of using his looks for power to which he simply replied with, 'Venti'. Though she didn't know when they had time to speak to each other she could still see Venti being the one to suggest the idea. Because of this, she had already begun to scheme her counter-attack on the bard.

While walking down the path she ran into Amber who was on her daily patrols, "Oh, Y/n. You're back!" Amber called over to the girl jogging over. "So, how was your 'vacation'?" She asked amiably.

Y/n's mood was immediately boosted by Amber's infectious cheeriness. "Oh, yeah it was good! I just needed to explore again, after all, there's only so much you can do in Monstadt," Y/n answered happily.

Amber nodded walking along with Y/n for a bit, as they chatted for a bit. However she did need to get back to patrolling but before she left Y/n she was sure to add in, "Oh, also Jean wants to see you soon!" Amber said quickly before she left Y/n to sit on those words.

Y/n felt like she had somehow gotten into trouble and wondered if she should just turn around and go back to Liyue. "What'd I do now..." She mumbled depressingly.

"You should just get it over with," Avieer said assuming Lisa and Jean were annoyed from the spontaneous vacation that the girl had suddenly gone on. Y/n nodded as she sulkily made her way back into the city.

Walking through the main city she had been spotted by Paimon and Aether who had quickly approached, "Oh, there's the weirdo!" Paimon exclaimed from afar when she saw Y/n. Aether didn't respond not wanting to face the possible wrath of the h/c haired girl. Once they grabbed Y/n's attention Paimon quickly began talking, "Where were you? You suddenly up and left!" Paimon complained as she followed Y/n.

Y/n looked over to the floating girl, "Liyue, but more importantly, didn't you have better things to do than wonder where I ditched to?" She pointed out flatly. Aether just kinda listened to Y/n giving Paimon shit.

Paimon got flustered stuttering, "I- You, Paimon had plenty of things to do! Paimon was curious, Okay?" She huffed crossing her arms as she pouted angrily.

Y/n nodded with a sarcastic smirk on her face, "Ah yes, just so many things," she appeased the silver-haired girl.

Not getting it Paimon brightened up as they entered the knight's headquarters, "Yeah now you get it!"

Y/n just nodded as she entered the office. "Did you need something, Miss Jean?" She asked cautiously poking her head in to gauge how much shit she was in.

Jean who'd been working on some documents looked up to see who had poked in their head. "Oh, Y/n. You're back," She said setting down her pen. "Yes. Come in," She said welcoming the girl in. Y/n however seemed hesitant, noting this Jean quickly added on, "You're not in trouble unless you'd like to confess something," She stated.

Y/n wasn't gonna suddenly shout all her sins so she obediently went in and stood in front of the desk. Aether following her. "...So, uh what did you need again?" Y/n asked, squeezing Avi for moral support.

Jean looked displeased that Y/n had brought in her slime but said nothing of it. "Traveler, I see you're here too. That's good, then I'll tell you while you're both here." Jean began. "I've noticed you have a bit of trouble working in groups, Y/n. To remedy such I have spoken with Lisa, and have re-assigned your role. One that is to help the Traveler, I've already heard from Kaeya that Aether was interested in you anyways," She explained calmly looking the short girl in her eyes. Though Jean had explained it patiently her tone had already indicated that Y/n would not be able to change this decision.

"Oh, I'm not gonna get jailed for trying to teach Klee how to nuke a city," She sighed before suddenly realizing. "Wait, Aether's what been interested in me?" She looked over to the blonde who stood next to her.
