The Conqueror of Demons

After the man had left them to decide for themselves whether they would cooperate Paimon voiced her doubts first. "He's so suspicious. Paimon doesn't know if we should follow him..." 

Y/n would normally agree with Y/n. However, they would probably have some wanted posters up for them soon if their names weren't cleared. "Normally, I'd agree. But at the same time he could help you two clear your names, I mean, between the three of us we stick out like a sore thumb. It wouldn't be too hard to track us down," She pointed out apprehensively.

Aether listened to the two converse on what could be the best option for them to go along with. "We could at least check. He hasn't been aggressive yet," Aether compromised still in the thought of how they may be able to get out of trouble if Childe wasn't of use. 

Paimon looked apprehensive but still agreed, "...Fine, but if Paimon's right then you owe some sort of treat!" She mumbled.

"I can take you to the bank," Y/n offered casually. Aether gave a little nod and Y/n began leading them up to the bank.

In front of the door, Childe stood waiting, as if expecting them to inevitably appear. "...Northland bank..." Paimon read out loud looking up at the sign.  

Childe gave a small smile, replying to the girl, "Correct, the bank was opened here in liyue by Snezhnaya." He then looked to the other two, explaining a bit more. "Everyone knows that Liyue has the most business in Teyvat, but Snezhnaya isn't short of change either." Towards the end, he sounded like he was almost bragging about his homeland.

Paimon had quickly caught onto his tone, almost arguing back, "Yeah, well poor nations can't exactly afford to have their diplomats running around and acting the way yours do towards the knights of Favonious," She huffed crossing her arms.

Childe just gave an awkward, chuckle being unable to defend himself against facts he already knew. Instead, he opted to bribe them, "Here, let me give you this." He said handing Aether a sigil.

Paimon hovered closer to get a better angle on the sigil, "This is a..." She began while squinting at it, trying to make out what exactly it was.

Childe finished her sentence for her, "I'm not sure exactly. Sometimes, all people can buy is 'things' and not a name for oneself." He explained for Aether who was looking equally as confused as Paimon. "All I know is it's a sigil. One meant to keep the 'mighty and illuminated' adepti from harming you," He added on.

"Why would an adepti attack in the first place?" Y/n pointed out flatly, feeling like the fact that they'd attack some poor passerby was unreasonable.

The silver-haired girl looked over to her friend shrugging, "Maybe they don't like being disturbed?" Paimon suggested. "Paimon is always extra grouchy if her rest is disturbed!" She added, subtly suggesting that they might just be asleep.

Childe cut in before the two could continue with their off-topic discussion, "If you head north from the harbor, then west from Guili Plains, you will eventually reach a stone forest known as Jueyun Karst." He stated vaguely.

Aether seemed somewhat confused pointing out, "But isn't that just a legend?" He tilted his head slightly not getting why Childe would bring it up.

Y/n looked at him incredulously, "Dude, did you get a hit of the dumbass juice, or is that your protagonist's aura making you dense as hell?" She retort sharply. Aether looked over to her, still confused. Y/n didn't want him to continue this nonsense and bluntly pointed out, "A god's corpse just fell onto the people and you think the adepti are the legends?" She sighed finding this idiocy annoying. 

Childe laughed at her sharp reprimands, earning himself a glare. "She's right, they exist for a fact." He explained a bit more to them.

Y/n hated to say it but, "See, even the ginger knows about it. He's not even from here," She muttered facepalming.
