while walking back through the town they passed the funeral, reminding Aether to probably check with Zhongli. "Oh, can you guys wait for a moment? I wanna do something, real quick," He said briefly going over to enter the funeral parlor. However when he did so one of the passers-by mentioned that the place was closed.
Y/n watched him boredly, "Can't we annoy Gramps later?" She grumbled feeling a bit annoyed with Aether's need to follow up with Zhongli.
Aether soon returned after asking some more people who were still out even after the day of high tensions. "I think Zhongli is at the bank," he said with a small sigh, "I have a bad feeling about this, so let's just check it out. Just in case," He suggested, causing Y/n to groan in annoyance.
"Fine, let's just get this over with," Y/n said a bit impatiently before realizing. "Wait," she turned to Childe. "Should we really be bringing this dude to his subordinates? We could get jumped, Y'know?" She asked cautiously, glaring at Childe like he just chucked her dog off a roof.
Aether thought for a moment, while he'd love to say, just leave the guy alone for a bit, Aether was more than aware of the obvious flight risk there. "You're right..." Aether muttered trying to think of a solution. Paimon was out of the question, she was useless when it came to combat. Y/n could stay with him, but she was just as chaotic as the Harbinger at times. That same reason was why she probably shouldn't be left alone in a bank. "What about your slime?" Aether suggested.
Y/n looked at Aether like he was stupid. "What about him?" She asked bluntly not knowing what he planned to do with a slime of all things. 'He's about to say something dumb, I can feel it.' She warned the slime suspiciously.
The slime shot back flatly 'I'm sure you've come up with worse, just hear him out for now.' in a bored tone. Aether continued to try and find a plausible solution, "Well, what if we leave the slime with Childe?" Aether said.
Y/n stared at the Traveler dumbfounded at his stupid idea for a moment, "Childe, how many things do you kill on a daily basis?" She asked as she continued to just stare at Aether.
Childe quickly began to estimate some of the things he usually does, "It depends on if I'm traveling and what my work is, but I'd say maybe 20-50 things on average?" He shrugged.
"So, that means you could kill a normal ass slime?" Y/n followed up, emphasizing that Aether was suggesting leaving a slime to the literal criminal. Aether felt a bit dumb with his suggestion as Y/n ripped it apart. "Did you think Avieer could ju-" she was cut off by the slime who was listening.
Avieer was thinking about the possible logistics of being left with Childe. "No, It could work." Avieer pointed out calmly.
Aether brightened up quickly when the slime sided with him. "See, even Avi agrees!" Aether said cheerfully, happy he was proven right by the slime itself.
Y/n's eyes snapped down to the slime she was holding and asked flatly, "the fuck are you gonna do besides die?" she asked wondering if he downed some stupid juice.
Avieer looked back up and sighed before prompting Y/n, "Think a little bit harder, please." After a moment Avieer's voice then began explaining to her, 'we've communicated at a distance before, I can just keep you updated on the whereabouts. If the slime dies I just return to you, remember it's just a vessel.'
Y/n listened before responding, 'But my money...' in a deflated tone, not wanting to lose her 'investment' in his vessel. The slime ignored her distaste at the possibility of losing the money she'd spent on the potion to get the slime the capability to talk. "Childe, if you kill my slime, I promise I will kill you." She threatened wholeheartedly, death staring at the ginger.
