Aether's Sidequest

It was four days since Y/n suddenly went MIA. Two days since Venti had his gnosis stolen shortly after confronting Stormterror. Walking into the library Lisa greeted Paimon and Aether, "Hey cuties, before you ask, Y/n's not back yet." Lisa answered Aether's question before he managed to say it.

Paimon looked on amazed, "Woah, how'd you know he was gonna ask?" She asked with a mixture of awe and curiosity.

Aether already knew the answer, he'd been seeing if she'd come back since she suddenly left Monstadt, "You've been asking every day now, it'd be a little hard to play ignorant," Lisa answered with a small giggle finding Paimon's innocent curiosity cute.

"Sorry," Aether muttered, sure that Lisa found him annoying for pestering her. Wonder why she suddenly up and left though. He couldn't help but wonder.

Lisa shook her head, "It's fine sweetie, I'm just teasing you. Anyways, why do you want to see her anyway?" She asked gladly taking the time to take a break from being a librarian to answer whatever questions the Traveler may have.

Aether shook his head, "No reason, I'm just curious as to why she suddenly left." He muttered, honestly he didn't know why he was being so nosey either. "Did she say when she'd be back?" The blonde asked looking back up to her from the floor.

Lisa pulled out the note which Y/n had left on the desk before she'd left. "Well, it says here that she'd be gone for a week for a 'holiday leave'." She said showing him the slip of paper. "As you can see she also left a PS for you. 

Aether looked at the bottom of the paper where it said: 'P.S.Also, tell Aether if he dies to Dvalin I'm resurrecting him and killing him again, thanks!' As he handed back the note to the mage behind the desk he thought How'd she know we would be fighting the dragon within the week? He initially thought to dismiss it as a lucky guess as he thanked Lisa and left the Headquarters.

Paimon however seemed to be thinking the same thing, "Man, Y/n seems super fishy, don't you think? Paimon thinks she's either a spy or some stalker!" She commented with a slight huff. After a brief pause, Paimon had a small lightbulb moment, "What if you were to do some snooping around on her, Paimons sure she's left some evidence behind if she were a spy or something like that, right?" Paimon prompted suddenly looking to Aether for Affirmation for her 'brilliant' idea.

Aether seemed unsure wanting to respect her privacy as she seemed to at the very least be friendly, "I mean, what if she isn't? She'd probably get pretty angry for snooping through her business," The Traveler pointed out cautiously.

Paimon quickly made up an excuse, "No, no we're not snooping, just uh... Investigating, yeah that's it!" She said happily. "Don't worry, Paimon guarantees she won't find out we even did this!" Paimon assured her companion, accentuating her point with a pat on the back. "Now then, let's figure out why she's so weird!" 

Aether nodded, "Alright, I mean from what she's shown or told us herself we can figure that she's from a place called 'earth' similar to myself in that she can use elemental power without needing a vision and has a weird pet slime." Aether summarised the information that he'd gathered already. "Anything else?" He asked Paimon, making sure he hadn't left anything out.

Paimon thought about it for a brief moment, "Hmm, oh, what about that 'friend' of hers! The one she keeps calling her ex! He might know something," She reminded hoping that if they could get ahold of 'Elijah' they'd be able to coerce some information from him.

"You're right, but he's even more mysterious than Y/n herself, I'm not sure we'd be able to meet  him for questioning in the first place." Aether pointed out knowing that the masked man who'd been seen only twice in his almost two months of being in Monstadt would be difficult to get a hold of the stranger.
