The next morning Y/n met up with Aether and Paimon. She still slept outside as the inn did not allow pets, especially not slimes. "Over here," Y/n called over to them from the bridge which led into the harbor.
Paimon heard the call and quickly found her, "Oh, there you are! Paimon couldn't see you for a moment there." She said somewhat relieved.
"Anyways, where's Madame Ping again?" Aether asked as they walked into town looking around for an older woman.
Y/n led her to the old woman, "And here she is," Y/n said pointing as they approached the elderly woman.
The woman sighed as she stared at some Glaze Lilies, "All things must change" she murmured to herself remorsefully.
Aether felt concerned hearing her statement out of context, "Are you alright?" Aether asked wondering if something was wrong.
The woman turned around hearing Aether's voice behind her, "It's nothing, it's nothing. I just thought it a great shame that so many of these Glaze Lilies have wilted." She assured him, though she still took on a somber tone as she spoke.
Paimon looked over to the wilted flowers, "Oh, what happened to them?" She asked glancing back to the old woman for an answer.
The woman gazed back to the lilies recounting an old rumor, "Back in my day, people said that Glaze Lilies can read human hearts. If they heard beautiful sounds like laughter and singing, they would also bloom joyfully." She said with a soft smile before somberly adding, "But if they heard too much wild gossip or slander, they would quickly wither away." as she looked back to the girl.
Paimon looked concerned, "So, does that means these flowers feel what's happening in Liyue?" She asked cautiously.
The woman sighed, "Yes, the rumors of Rex Lapis' death are no small matter. They are everywhere." She pointed out calmly. "Some say it was a plot. Others say that they made it all up, and still, others think that That Which Lies in the Deep is breaking free," she murmured thoughtfully. However, she soon remembered that the visitors had probably come for a reason. "...Well, I shall say no more. This old woman's grown too old and naggy... Did you have something to say, youngster?" she said giving the group a kind old smile that only an old soul could possess.
Being suddenly reminded that he was here for more than a simple chat with an old woman he politely asked, "We'd like to borrow the Cleansing Bell," He said feeling a little awkward to ask for a stranger's possession.
Madame Ping's eyes lit up in recognition, "Ah, that old trinket, I remember it being here with me, but I've grown old. I can't quite recall where it is exactly." she nodded wondering where she had misplaced the bell this time. " An old friend of mine used to wear it on his person, back when I was young. He saw me gazing at it often and gave it to me." She said, her tone audibly getting gentler as she remembered her friend. "But he told me then that if someone should come to borrow that bell, I should not be loath to part with it." She added. " Still, though I can't recall when it started, it's been a long time since anyone has come to borrow it. Ah, these old bones are so slow to look for things. I doubt you can wait that long..." she sighed once again.
"That's okay, I'm sure we'd be able to get it for you," Y/n offered with a little shrug.
Paimon quickly nodded, liking Y/n's thinking. "That's right granny. We'll follow you back home, and search for it ourselves!" She volunteered cheerfully. " And... Um, we can help with chores if you have any too!" She added a little awkwardly.
Aether agree, "I'm a Knights of Favonius-certified lost property finder!" he added as if that was some sort of well-known benchmark of credibility.
Y/n looked over confused at why that's what he brought up to prove himself up to the task. "Weird flex but okay dude," She muttered sarcastically.
