"Who's at the door" Tyler yelled. I stayed frozen not expecting to see Mom's parents. I didn't expect them to look like this, I didn't know what to expect

"Skylar what's taki- what the hell are you guys doing here?" Tyler looked furious at the two in front of me

"We want to meet our granddaughter" John spoke up. I didn't expect his voice to be that deep especially come from him. He's a bald 5"9 man who looks so small compared to Tyler

"Skylar, go to your room. I'll tell you when the cookies are ready" Tyler gently tugged me towards the stairs

"No, I want to meet the people who abandoned my mother at age of 18 and left her to do everything by herself" I calmly said but i was clearly being passive aggressive

"They shouldn't be here in the first place, let them leave and we can go back to our cookies" Tyler tried persuading me but I have questions that haven't been answered and I need answers.

"I need answers" I stated

"Skylar, it won't help" Tyler said as he tries to control his anger.

"Tyler, let them. I want to hear what they have to say, please" I begged

"Fine, you guys get 5 minutes and I'm watching" Tyler eyed Patricia and John. Tyler walked us towards the couch and I sat next to him while the others were across

"You must have a lot of questions" Patricia said

"Yeah" I scoffed. I had a million questions but only one stuck out

"Why did you leave mom? Why not help her with the baby or contact Tyler when you realized she ran away" I asked

"We didn't think she would actually run away, when she left-

"No you mean when you kicked her out" I interrupted her

"When we kicked her out we realized it was a mistake and she shouldn't do this alone even if she got pregnant before getting married or even having premarital sex-

"Oh did I forget to mention they are hard core Catholics" Tyler interrupted and leaned into me to tell me

"So you kicked her out because it didn't align with your religion. Didn't the Bible say love one another yet you didn't love my mother enough to not kick her out or bother loving her kid" I exclaimed

"And we realized that but it was too late. We called and called and she didn't answer" Patricia exclaimed

"She called you hundreds of times but you never answered!" I replied

"And we wish we did" Patricia frustratedly exclaimed

"Why didn't you contact Tyler?" I questioned

"We did" John stated

"Yeah but a year too late. You called me 1 year after you guys kicked her out and I didn't know where she went or her ever being pregnant. You guys didn't even tell me" he exclaimed

"We thought you knew" Patricia said

"Well I didn't and now here I am almost 16 years later with a daughter I barely know. I wish I found out about her earlier but because of arrogant assholes like you, I wasn't able to!" Tyler frustratedly exclaimed shooting up from his spot

"Tyler" I pulled him down back to his seat

"Did you know about Lucas?" I asked Patricia

"No not at all, I don't even know much about it" she rambled

"How did you find out mom died and I was in Tyler's custody" I asked

"I saw in the media that you and Tyler were out and I immediately questioned if that was our granddaughter so we started to investigate and we found our your mom died" she replied
