There are three birthdays today. Shingo, King, and Mature. I have already done Shingo last year, so I'm doing King this year. I'm not likely doing Mature because... well, she's a ghost and one of my least favourite characters. For some reason, I've always disliked Vice and Mature lol.
1 April
Yuri set off on her morning jog, playing soft music on her headphones so she could still hear her surroundings. She waved when Rock rode past her on his bike, getting to school.
"Morning, Miss Yuri," Rock greeted as he rode.
"Good morning, Rock!" Yuri called back with a smile. "Have fun at school!"
She chuckled and continued with her jog, eventually stopping at a cafe to get shortcakes. Of course, she ate it alone because her family would make fun of her for getting desserts when she was out jogging. It kinda defeated the purpose of what she was supposed to do, but she didn't really care. As long as her family doesn't know about it, it didn't matter.
Yuri walked out of the shop, not noticing the small smudge of whipped cream on the tip of her nose, and continued her jog, vibing to her music as she went around the streets of South Town.
She closed her eyes for a second and let out a relaxed sigh. The breeze was cold too and she felt it through her sports jacket.
All of a sudden, a strong hand grabbed her, pulling her into an alleyway that seemed to be darker than the rest of the town. Yuri pushed the hooded man to the wall and gave him a series of slaps. Without missing a beat, Yuri threw him to the ground and heavily sat on him.
"Yuri!" The perpetrator cried in a very very familiar voice. "Argh... get off! You're so heavy!"
"Nii?" Yuri gasped and got to her feet. Her attacker was none other than her own brother. "What the heck is wrong with you?!"
She pulled him up to his feet and shook him but poor Ryo just sank to the ground, looking slightly dazed.
"As if getting kidnapped once isn't enough to make a girl alert, why did you do that?!" Yuri demanded. She looked down at her brother, who sat hunched because of his newfound backache. Yuri groaned and sat down next to him, rubbing his back. "Did I hit you too hard?"
"Not really, but your butt... you might've broken my spine with that move..." Ryo groaned.
"What do you want?" Yuri sighed. "Why did you grab me like that?"
Ryo sat straighter, resting an elbow on his raised knee. His face grew a little red too and Yuri knew it wasn't because of her slaps. "King... King's birthday is coming up next Friday."
Yuri just stared at him, her right eye twitching. "You mean to say... you just scared me like a total stalker just so you could discuss about King's birthday? Nii! You're my brother, we literally live under the same roof. What's the point of this?"
Ryo turned even redder. "I... I... look, I don't want Dad and Robert making fun of me like that, okay? You know how they are, don't you? Besides, you're her best friend. You're the best person to ask for advice besides Mai. It's difficult to ask her, so you're my best choice."
Yuri blinked twice, then burst into laughter. Ryo scowled and turned away. Yuri tapped his shoulder, laughing again when he looked at her.
"Alright, alright, stop it..." Ryo groaned. "Please, can you help me with the party?"
Yuri sighed. "Fine. What are you planning?"
Ryo told her about what he was thinking. Yuri immediately shook her head.
"Nii, that is not a good idea," Yuri frowned. "She'll VENOM STRIKE you! You wanna end up dead?"
Ryo shrugged. "Seems nice enough."
"What, to end up dead?"
"No, the plan. Yuri, come on. It's gonna be fine, trust me!"
"Well, I still don't agree with your plan. It's stupid."
"Is that whipped cream on your nose? Hey, I thought you went jogging?"
Yuri subtly rubbed the cream off. "If you tell anyone, I'm not gonna help you."
"If you don't help, I'll tell everyone about it."
"Fine..." Yuri scowled and got up, brushing the dirt off her yoga pants. She sighed and tapped her brother on the shoulder. "Come on. We need to get home or else, Dad would get suspicious."
"Nah, I told him I'm going to my farm," Ryo smirked, getting onto his feet. "He won't suspect a thing."
Yuri followed him to his car. She was annoyed since he could've just pulled over next to her and asked for help, but he just had to go all stalker and pull her into the alleyway.
Well, Ryo was afraid that Robert might've been lurking around. After all, if there was anyone else who could mock him and get away with it, it would be him.
