It was way past midnight and everyone was fast asleep.
Mai groaned and rubbed her forehead, facing the aftermath of drinking too much. A hangover.
She sat up and groped for a water bottle on her nightstand. To her dismay, it wasn't there. She was also surprised at how she was back in her room with Mary, and she was wearing pyjamas.
Mai wanted to ask Mary if she had water, but scowled when she remembered their fight. Her pride still did not let her see her in the eye.
She sighed, too lazy to get out of bed, and decided to just sleep like that. Mai rubbed her eyes and looked around the room to find something bright enough so that she can see.
To her surprise, the silhouette of a man stood next to the bedroom door. She blinked a few times and noticed that whoever it was, had slicked back long hair.
"Andy?" Mai called. "Is that you?"
It looked like Andy, especially because of his hair.
"Andy, what are you doing here?" Mai chuckled. "What would Mary think when she sees us flirting?"
A low, demonic laugh came.
"Andy, are you trying to scare me?" Mai smirked, sitting up on the bed. "You know that won't work on me, right?"
A pair of red glowing eyes appeared on the shadow. Mai started laughing.
"You went to that costume store, didn't you?" Mai laughed. "Oh, Andy... you're so cute."
The figure started coming towards her, making her realise something.
This man was much too tall to be Andy. Andy was only around five-foot, seven inches tall. But this man seemed to be a six-footer. His energy felt different too. A lot darker and... inhuman.
"Who are you?" Mai asked sternly. "Who are you and what are you doing here?"
She leapt out of bed and jumped into her fighting stance. She was surprised at how Mary was still fast asleep, despite her shoutings.
"Shiranui Mai, mairi masu!" Mai said as she struck a pose. "Come on! Come at me!"
The silhouette lunged at her. Mai quickly dodged and gave him Musasabi no Mai. But somehow, the figure's dark fingers managed to snake around her neck, throwing her back onto her bed. Mai was paralysed. She felt helpless as the silhouette approached her, laughing demonically.
She managed to grab the blanket and cover herself as she screamed her heart out. She felt something heavy squashing her, making her scream even more.

"Mai? Are you okay? Mai!"
"Please, leave me alone!" Mai cried.
"Mai, calm down!" A feminine voice said. "It's only me! It's me, Mary!"
The blanket was torn away from her, and she finally saw Mary's face in the dimly lit room. She gasped and looked around to see the lampshades turned on and Mary's pillow on the ground. The door was swung open and Terry came in with Rock and Scott behind him.
"I... where's Andy?!" Mai demanded, getting out of bed.
Andy elbowed his way through the small crowd of people gathered in front of the room. Mai threw herself at him, shoving him to the ground.
"Andy!" Mai cried, giving him a tight squeeze.
"Mai, are you okay?" Andy asked. "We heard a scream and came straight here."
"Mary, what happened?" Terry asked, turning to Mary instead.
"I-I don't know," Mary said, still holding the blanket. "Mai was screaming, cowering under her blanket. I just went to see if she was okay."
Terry turned to his brother and Mai on the ground. "Mai, what happened?"
"There... there was a man here," Mai blurted out, trembling. Andy helped her up. "I thought it was Andy, because of his hair, but it wasn't. He was too tall. He wasn't even human!"
"Sounds like the guy in my nightmare yesterday!" Scott chimed in. "Miss Mai, did he have glowing red eyes?"
"Yeah!" Mai nodded. "And he laughed. "Oh, that dreadful laugh..."
"Something like 'Heh hah heh,' right?" Scott tried to imitate. "But no, it was much worse than that."
Mai nodded. "Yeah... it was so scary! It kinda sounded like... Saiki!"
"What? No, it isn't him!" Scott shook his head. "He sounds exactly like Ash! It can't be him!"
Mai's eyes widened. "Come to think of it, it kinda did look like Saiki. He was tall, big, and had slicked-back hair. But his eyes were red. Saiki's are blue..."
"Yeah," Terry nodded. "But you said it sounds like him?"
"Yeah!" Mai exclaimed. "I could never forget that deep laugh."
"We'll ask him tomorrow," Mary frowned. "If it is him, he's gonna regret it."
"But Saiki's short!" Scott argued. "How could it have been him?!"
Rock quickly pulled him back to the living room.
"Better not tell him," Terry frowned, going back to his room.
"Mai, take care, okay?" Andy said, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. "I'll be next door, okay?"
Mary rubbed Anton's head before the dog sped back to the living room after the boys.
Mai was hesitant, but she decided to say it anyway.
"Mary, can... can your dog stay here?" Mai asked much to her surprise.
"Why?" Mary smirked.
"Oh come on, just let him!" Mai frowned. She turned around and fell face-first onto her bed. "If you don't wanna, then it's okay."
Mary grinned and called for her dog. "Anton!"
The dog happily ran back to the room and leapt into her arms, almost throwing her off balance. And then he pattered towards Mai and looked at her with soulful eyes. Mai sighed and rubbed his head, the slightest of smiles on her face.
"You know, Mai," Mary grinned, closing the door before going towards her bed. "Earlier just now, you were stroking Anton, thinking he was Andy! You said his hair was so silky."
Mai chuckled. "Well, I was drunk... but Anton's still a sweet dog. I actually really like dogs, but Andy despises them."
That was news to Mary. "If you really liked dogs, then why did you hit Anton yesterday?"
"Well, upon hearing Andy's story, I began to fear dogs too," Mai explained with a sigh. "But I know Anton's a good boy. He wouldn't bite anyone without a reason."
Mary smiled and called for Anton to sleep next to her since his dog bed was still in the living room. Mai was a little relieved, considering she kinda felt safer now that Anton was with them. She would've felt even safer if Andy was with her, but considering how he insisted on rooming with his brother instead.
