Seirah was staying over with the K' team. K' was kinda happy to have his sister over for a while. She had a holiday because Heidern insisted on it. He was really happy with the results of their previous mission and insisted that all of them get a week's holiday.
Kula was really happy too and even bought ice cream for everyone with her own savings. They planned to stay up late, but they ended up sleeping early since they were really tired.
They all went to bed really tired. Even K', despite being an insomniac, fell asleep instantly. Krizalid was kinda satisfied when he heard K' let out snores right after getting into bed for the first time.
The entire apartment was silent save for the soft snores that some of its occupants let out. The silence was only interrupted early in the morning around seven.
A loud, feminine scream was heard. K' and Krizalid scrambled out of their beds in panic.
"Sounds like one of the girls are in trouble!" Krizalid exclaimed. "Come on!"
They ran out of their room to the girls' room to find them reacting the same way.
"It wasn't us," Seirah said. "It came from outside!"
They all ran out of the room to find the source of the noise. It came again and they were surprised.
"It came from Max's room!" Krizalid exclaimed. "Oh no... is that idiot trying trying to abuse Diana or something?"
"Max isn't that kind of a guy," K' pointed out. "Come on! Let's see what's going on!"
They burst into Maxima's room and saw the blankets on the ground with someone underneath it.
"Max, are you okay?" Seirah asked, concerned. "What was that noise? Did you scream? Like a girl?"
Maxima stayed under the blanket. He didn't come out and the others could see that he was shaking under it.
"U-Uncle?" Kula asked, a little afraid. "Are you okay?"
K' rolled his eyes and decided to rip the blanket off. To their surprise, a woman was underneath it.
"Hey!" K' shouted when he saw her. "Where's Max? What have you done with him?"
K' looked away in embarrassment when he realised that she was wearing nothing but a bikini with sleeves and thigh-high boots.
But what weirded them out the most was the fact that her collars looked exactly like those from Maxima's battle suit and she had unusually large fists. She had something on her chest that looked incredibly like Maxima's chest cannon.
"Aibou, please don't look away," the woman said in a sad tone. "It's me! Maxima! I have no idea what happened. I woke up like this!"
Krizalid started laughing at her.
"Don't laugh at me!" Maxima shouted in frustration. "If it happened to you, then you'll know!"
"Max, is that really you?" Seirah asked, surprised. "Come here. I wanna take a closer look at you."
She pulled the woman towards her and examined her. Maxima's sideburns were gone and replaced with side stands. Her hair was long too. She looked just like Maxima, but she was a girl.
"Max?" Seirah asked, shocked. "What happened to you?"
"I don't know," Maxima said, frustrated. "I woke up and found myself like this. The first thing I did was scream. Then I fell off the bed and screamed again. Then you guys came in."
Krizalid started snickering. K' gave him a backhand.
"That's not very nice, Kriz," Seirah said, annoyed. "Max, come to our room. We need to get you some clothes."
Maxima allowed Seirah to lead her out of the room. Kula decided to follow, trying to think of a way to help.
"Do you have any idea on how this happened?" Whip asked, taking out a few clothes that might fit the now female Maxima.
"I'm not really sure if this has anything to do with it, but..." Maxima trailed off. "I had a dream. A yellow robot claiming to be named Stein suddenly came to me. It laughed and flew at me. Everything became dark and I woke up! Like this!"
Seirah nodded thoughtfully.
"This is more serious than I thought," Seirah said, handing a shirt and a pair of leggings to Maxima. "Here, put this on first. "It's a a lot better than wearing a bikini. Especially in a house with guys..."
Maxima sighed and did as she said.
They all walked out of the room and went to the living room. The two guys were waiting for them there. For some reason, Krizalid couldn't stop laughing at Maxima. K' looked annoyed and turned away.
Maxima went to them and sat down.
"Don't look away from me, K'," Maxima said. "I may have changed, but I'm still me. I'm still the same Maxima. I'm your pal! I'm still that sweet-tooth you guys know so well!"
K' sighed and turned to Maxima with a concerned look.
"I know, Max," K' said. "But it's just that... it's really weird. You used to be the tallest among us, the big guy of our team. But now, you're the shortest! You're even shorter than Kula!"
Maxima realised this and sighed. Then he remembered something.
"Am I still a cyborg?" Maxima asked himself, standing up. "Do I still have my abilities?"
"I think you do," Krizalid said, finally recovering from his laughing fit. "You still have your chest cannon, right?"
Maxima looked down at his chest and nodded.
"I do," Maxima said. "And I think I have my machine gun hands too."
She held them up to give it a test but Seirah and K' quickly stopped him.
"Not in here, Max," Seirah said. "You'll destroy the apartment!"
"Oh right, sorry about that," Maxima apologised. "But what actually happened to me? Who was that robot?"
"Robot?" K' asked in concern. "Max, what actually happened?"
Maxima told them about the dream he had right before waking up. The two guys looked at each other in surprise.
"We need to find that bucket of bolts," K' said grimly. "Kriz, we need to- can you ever stop laughing?"
Krizalid shook his head while laughing. For some reason, he found Maxima's condition hilarious.
