Kyo waited for his friends to arrive. Saisyu had insisted that he invited his friends over for New Year.
"Come on, Kyo, I'm tired of seeing the same faces every year," Saisyu said. "It's always Benimaru, Goro, Shingo. Benimaru, Goro, Shingo. Why don't you invite those Yagami kids for once?"
"And that kid with your flames?" Shizuka suggested. "You know, that white-haired boy with the blue eyes?"
"I know who you're talking about..." Kyo said. "I already invited him. Probably gonna come with his clones..."
"Is the kimono really necessary?" K' asked, painstakingly tying the obi around his waist. "Can't I just wear a... changshan or something?"
"Changshan is for Chinese..." Zayn pointed out. "But yeah. I rather wear a changshan..."
"At least it's not a fundoshi...." Krizalid said, putting a haori jacket on. "How do I look?"
"Overdressed?" K' said. "What's with the jacket and hakama anyway?"
Krizalid shrugged. "It completes the look," he said. "It's actually more common for men to wear the jacket and hakama, you know?"
"Pass..." Zayn said. "It's already hard to breath in this..."
K' nodded with a frown.
They filled into K's Explorer and went off to Kyo's home. K' was lazy to drive so Krizalid ended up taking over
"Isn't it strange he's inviting us?" Zayn said with a shrug. "Usually we're closer to Iori."
"I have no idea," K' said. "Something tells me his parents had something to do with it."
"Probably," Krizalid said, his eyes fixated on road. "Iori is coming too, right?"
"He most definitely is," K' said with a chuckle. "Hey, where's the bag o' stuff?"
"It's here," Zayn said from the backseat. His gaze fell on the pack of grapes peeking out of the bag. "You got me some grapes too, right?"
"Yes, Zayn..." the other two men said together in unison.
At the Yagami home...
"Aiko, have you seen my haori?" Iori shouted, looking around. "I put it in the wash yesterday, and now it's vanished!"
"I put it on your bed together with the rest of your kimono, Niisan!" Aiko called.
"Well, I can't find it now!" Iori called back.
Aiko, still in her nagajuban, groaned and burst out of her room. She stomped towards her brother's room and went in. She scanned the room slightly and saw the jacket behind the door. She picked it up and shoved it at her brother.
"What's this?" Aiko asked, shoving it at him. "How did it end up there?"
Iori tried to remember.
Last night...
Aiko separated the washing between her clothes and her brother's. She neatly folded them and put Iori's clothes on his bed before putting hers away in her room.
Iori staggered into his room after a long night of New Year's Eve celebration in Shibuya Crossing and the first prayer of the year in the local shrine. He saw a stack of clothes on his bed and put them aside on his chair. He went to the bathroom and had a quick shower before going to bed.
He laid on his bed and went to sleep.
Something had made its way to Iori's face and in his sleep state, he just pulled off and threw it aside, not knowing what it was.
It was his haori jacket.
"So that's what it was..." Iori muttered under his breath.
"What?" Aiko asked, not hearing what he said.
"Nothing, go get dressed," Iori said, pushing her out of the room. "I can see that you're almost done."
Aiko shook her head and left the room. She returned to her room and finished wearing her kimono.
She was soon done and went over to her dressing table to find her flower kanzashi. She looked for it, but couldn't find it.
She groaned again and left the room. She knocked on Iori's door again.
"Niisan!" Aiko called, knocking on his door. "Oi Niisan!"
Iori opened the door, fully dressed in his kimono, but his hair was still a mess.
"Where's my-" Aiko began, but before she could finish her sentence, Iori handed something to her.
It was her missing kanzashi.
"Thank you," Aiko said, taking her hairpin in surprise. "Where did you find it?"
"You left it in my kimono..." Iori said, walking past her. "I have no idea how it ended up there..."
"Well, must've been when I was taking them out," Aiko said with a shrug. "I put it in my pocket while I was folding your clothes."
"Maybe," Iori said. "Alright, you ready?"
"Hair..." Aiko said, holding up a few bobby pins in one hand and a hairbrush in the other. "Can you help? I'm still not very good at tying my hair up..."
Iori sighed and helped her. He always did it when they were young, and still remembered.
"There, it's done," Iori said, adding the ornamental hairpin. "Done."
Aiko turned around and smiled at her brother. She noticed how his hair was still a mess. She reached for the hairbrush and and started brushing his hair.
"You wanna slick your hair back, Niisan?" Aiko asked.
Iori thought about it.
"Sure, I guess," Iori said. "But don't gel it up or anything."
Aiko smirked and plaited his fringe before pinning it behind his ear.
"How do you like it?" Aiko asked, holding up the mirror at the back of the hairbrush.
Iori looked at his reflection with wide eyes.
"Why didn't I think about this while disguising?" Iori asked himself. "I had a hard time stuffing this under my cap!"
Aiko just shrugged and took her phone out to take a picture with him. They took a few together before heading off to the Kusanagi home.
