How things are still the same?
No One POV:
"And that's that, your Honor." Ivan announced as he paused the recording tape that was still attached to Desmond's African mask, finishing the messy story, before looking at the judge, who was giving one last look at one of the documents.
"Mmm, I see. Thank you Mr. Sakharine." He hummed to himself in internalization, making Tintin, Malory, Desmond, Rosita and Captain look at each other with growing smiles while unconsciously Tintin and Malory grabbed a hold on the other's hand, squeezing in hope and for reassurance as he continued, "Well, it seems like I have no choice but to charge Mr. Ivan Ivanovitch Sakharine for the attempted murder of Ms. Maloriss Remi, Mr. Desmond Tin and Mrs. Rosita Tin. And now seeing your last escape, Mr. Sakharine, I've decided you'll be escorted back to France along with the convicting evidences, where you'll be charged for your crimes against the said country. And hopefully learn your lesson there. As far as I'm concerned, this case is closed!"
And with that he struck down the hammer, making the small group cheer with joy.
Malory POV:
"Thank you again for your help, Ladies and Gentlemen. thanks to you, we finally got Mr. Sakharine back to where he belongs. And this time we'll make sure that it's for good." The officer, who escorted us out, said.
"Please, the pleasure is all ours." Ivan replied dismissively.
"I just can't believe this nightmare is finally over." Rosita said in relief, turning to look at Desmond in confusion when she didn't receive any reply, making me look as well, seeing him in daze "Desmond?"
"Whoa?" He asked, snapping out of it.
"Are you alright, Mr. Tin?" I asked in concern.
"Oh. Yes, I am! Sorry... I guess I'm just lost a little..." He replied slowly "I've spent so long running away from Sakharine that I never stopped to think what to do if it'd be over."
"Well, it is over now, Mr. Tin. You have nothing to worry about anymore. Now you can go ahead with your life and live them as you pleased." The officer said, trying to cheer him up, which made Desmond look at him in wonder, as if he's looking for an answer to his question.
Tintin and I looked at him in surprise before I stepped forward.
"When Tintin and I finish an adventure, we always wonder where and when the next one would be. But we are never worried, because we know eventually that it'll come." I told him, "Don't worry about the future, Mr. Tin. Focus on what there is right now and I'm sure the next 'now' would be something great for you and Mrs. Tin."
Silence fell on our small group as Desmond slowly smiled again before glancing over my shoulder at Tintin in mischief.
"You're right, Malory. For now I'll focus on celebrating the reunion of my family and hopefully the next celebration would be of you and Augustin."
"FATHER! Please..." I blushed and looked down as Tintin yelled out before blushing madly as well while the adults around us laughed.
"Well said, Desmond! Now come along! I'm inviting you and your wife to stay with me at Marlinspike Hall for as long as you're pleased..." Captain cheered as he wrapped his arm over Mr. Tin's shoulder and dragged him along towards the exit, Mrs. Tin and Ivan following suit while starting a little conversation with each other.
