Past and Paths.
Malory POV:
Eventually, we made it to where I knew Father's friend was staying at this time of the year and made the rest of the way to his hacienda on foot.
We already strayed the jacket of our uniforms and I used mine as a sling for my shoulder.
Tintin POV:
After getting Malory to Mr. Trujillo's hired doctor, I sat down with him for a talk. It was a little stressful to ask for a favor from someone I don't know as well as someone else who's with me but Malory reassured me all the time that he'll help us.
"I must say, it has been so long since I've seen Maloriss. Last time I saw her, she was trying to escape into the jungle during a party I hosted two years ago." He said as he took as he filled our glasses with juice.
"Yes, that sounds like Malory alright." I said, smiling.
"And she goes by Malory now? Wow, Lucian really let the poor animal loose, didn't he?" He said with an adoring smile.
"Excuse me?" I frowned at the way he addressed Malory.
"Oh, I didn't mean it like that, Señor! It's just that after all what he told me about the future he and Silvia had planned for her you can't imagine my surprise now that I see her what she has become, in a good way, of course! I'm glad to see her parents have had a change of heart." He said, making me look down shamefully.
"They haven't..." I mumbled loud enough for him to hear.
"Oh..." Was all he said an uncomfortable silence hosted us for a few moments, "Well, knowing the family, I guess I should've seen that one coming."
I smiled a little and gave Snowy, who slept by my chair, a little pat.
"So Señor, what brings you two out in the middle of nowhere?" He asked, getting to business.
"Well, Malory and I are trying to find the Arumbayas." I decided to say like Malory asked me to; Straight forward and with no fear.
And just as I expected, Mr. Trujillo almost chocked on his drink when he heard that, startling Snowy.
"You do not want to go there, Señor! The Arumbayas are a very fierce tribe! The last man who went there was the British explorer, Ridgewell... He never came back." He told me after wiping his face and putting a cigar in his mouth as he moved his finger along his neck.
"Yeah... we'd still like to go." Malory's voice came from behind me and I turned to see her making her way towards me with a medical bandage... that is only used to keep dislocated limbs in their places.
"Did he fix it?" I asked as she sat next to me and grabbed the glass I didn't touch from the table and started drinking, ignoring my question.
"Malory?" I asked again in concern when I saw her hand shaking and she stopped drinking, putting the glass back.
"He can't do anything... It can't go back to place on its' own... not without a surgery..." She replied, not making an eye contact with me.
"But... it means..." I stuttered, feeling my heart getting heavier.
It means that if she'll do the surgery, the level of functioning in her shoulder will be even lower than it already was when she dislocated it in the first place and was able to pop it in and out whenever she liked...
Meaning that she won't be able to go on adventures with me anymore...
"Malory, there must be something we can do!" I protested immediately.
