Welcome(?) to San Theodoros.

No One POV:

Eventually, Captain Maldemer had to leave and get ready to dock the ship, leaving Tintin, Malory and Snowy alone to watch the speedboat with the murderers leaving.

In the speedboat, Ramon and Alonzo looked up at Colonel Jimenez, who inspected them for a few moments before he leaned over and opened their handcuffs.

Alonzo took a few moments to rub his wrists before pulling out the promised money from his inner pocket and handed it to the colonel.

"Now we must get the idol back." He told Ramon as they leaned on the edge of the boat, resting until they'll reach coast.

"It will not be easy! Señor Tintin and Señorita Malory are clever ones!" Ramon pointed out as Alonzo rubbed his beard in thoughts.

"Si, but even clever ones can be tricked, Ramon." He said darkly before laughing at the idea that popped in his mind.

Malory POV:

Tintin and I went back to our dorm, wanting to think of how to do the next steps.

I was resting on bed while Tintin examined the idol's face, the only part that wasn't covered in the brown wrapping.

"The sooner we'd return the idol to the museum, Malory, the sooner we're going to- The ear! It's not broken!"

"What?" I jolted at Tintin's words and looked over to see that it was true since Tintin pulled the wrapping off of the idol's head and revealed the terrible truth.

"This is a fake!" He exclaimed.

"What do we do now?" I asked but before he could answer, the captain entered our room.

"Tintin, Malory! This just came over the radio! You've been invited to the capital by the minister of justice!" He told us excitedly and handed Tintin the paper, who read it out loud for me.

"'To honor your bravery in capturing the smugglers.'" Tintin looked at me, "The presses asked that we bring the idol."

"Sounds like a heroes' press conference!" The captain pointed out.

"I just wish we had better news..." I said as we looked at the fake idol before Tintin packed it up in our suitcase.

Tintin POV:

We waved goodbye to the captain who dropped us on the dock where we supposed to meet the men who'll take us to the minister.

I whistled to myself as Malory watched the sea when I felt someone's presence too close to us and turned to see a man in a white suit currying off with-

"Hey! That's our suitcase! Stop!" I yelled after him and started running.

"Tintin!" Malory called and Snowy barked, making me turn to look at Malory, who raised our suitcase up a little for me to see that it was right here.

"Phew. Thanks Malory, Good Boy, Snowy." I said as I took the suitcase from her.

"Señor! Señorita!" We turned around to see two soldiers walking to us, saluting, "Please, come with us."

"Ah good, you must be here to escort us to the minister." I said and we started walking with them.

"Why so many soldiers?" Malory suddenly asked as we walked down the streets and I realized that it was true, they were full of soldiers and tanks.

"There's talk about a revolution, Señorita." One of the soldiers replied but I could sense that Malory was still uncomfortable so I moved my suitcase to my other hand and grabbed hers, giving it a light squeeze and a reassuring smile.
