The Search For the Sceptre.
Malory POV:
The morning soon turn to a late noon hour and we were now at another room downstairs.
"Sire, the sceptre has not been recovered yet. But I've secured the services of two detectives of international repute." Lord Chamberlain, one of the royal servicemen informed his ruler.
But the king was still tense.
"Tomorrow is the ceremony of St. Vladimir's day. I must produce the sceptre or... relinquish the throne." He finally voiced out his fear and my eyes widened.
"Tomorrow?" Tintin and I gasped and switched looks. That means we didn't have much time!
"Your Majesty? Presenting the world's greatest detectives!" The keeper came into the room and stood next to the door as he announced it, letting the new help in before the two, VERY familiar people tripped over themselves and fell back, making Tintin and I flinch slightly and I noticed the king did the same for a second before frowning at them.
"Thomson and Thompson!" Tintin cheered while I mumbled, "Oh boy..."
The king was surprised by us recognizing him but seemed to agree with me.
"Your Highness!" The two said together as the keeper helped them up, "Oh hello, Tintin and Malory!" Thomson added before the two approached, brushing off the dust from the right shoulders, "Fancy seeing you two here." Thompson added.
"Please, follow me, Detectives. I'll show you the scene of the crime." The keeper said, leading them up the stairs.
Once there, they immediately approached the cabinet.
"Ah!" The two let out as they inspected the last resting place of the sceptre.
"AHHH!" They let out again as they inspected the camera that was still there.
"Oh..." They hummed again, this time inspecting the only window nearby and switched looks.
"Ah-Ha!" They announced, turning to look at us.
"What have you found?" The king asked.
"Those tricky devils used some sort of stun gas in the flash bomb." Thomson explained before looking over at his partner as a sign to continue him.
"When it went off," Thompson reached for his nose and pinched it, "The professor held his nose while the guards passed out."
The king, Tintin and I switched looks, shock mostly came from Tintin and I, not believing our ears.
"He threw the sceptre out the window!" Thomson finished the theory and the three of us switched looks again.
"Could you get us something the same size as the sceptre?" Thompson asked the keeper and he left to search.
"Is it possible?" The king asked us.
"Could be..." Tintin replied slowly before we looked at the detectives who were now rocking in place, leaning slightly against their canes.
"Maybe I didn't give them enough credit..." I mumbled more to myself just before the keeper came back with a dowsing rod.
"Will this do?" He asked.
"Perfectly! Stand back!" Thompson cheered and grabbed it before turning to the window, Thomson walking away. He stepped back, aimed and threw.
"OW!" Thomson exclaimed and fell back when the rod hit the bars and hit him square in the face.
"Oops!" Thompson yelped while his partner glared at him and I facepalmed.
"No, I gave them just enough..." I mumbled, rubbing the bridge of my nose before watching Thomson standing up.
