The Lone Soldier.

No One POV:

Rosita was taken aback a bit but nonetheless happy, seeing her son excitedly telling her about the game he played with his new friend as they walked along the path home.

"And then the lion came charging at us! And she punched him in the nose, she has really strong punches, and we found out that the diamond was actually in his den so we had to face more lions!"

"Really?" She smiled in amusement. She never imagined a day where her little bookworm will be telling her about playing with other kids and definitely not this joyfully.

"Yes! So I suggested that we'll climb to the top of the mountain where the den was and she'll lower me in with a rope while they're sleeping!" He told her.

"That's brilliant, Sweetie! It sounds like you had a lot of fun with your new friend."

"I did! She's so nice, Mother!" His smile widened as once they've passed the gate, a familiar white puppy ran towards him and he quickly caught him in his arms as he jumped into them and he laughed at the neverending licks. It tickled!

"Milou, stop! You're drenching my uniform!" The 10 year old giggled but Milou didn't stop, making Rosita laugh too.

"Oof! A wild animal has caught my boy! Never fear, for I'm here!"

"Father!" Augustin exclaimed as Milou stopped licking him and the boy rushed towards his father, while still holding on to Milou.

"Hey there, Son! Welcome back! How was prison?" He asked as he picked the two up with ease.

"Desmond!"

"I'm just asking, Rosita." Desmond shrruged, "His teacher called my office to inform me he's been reading during her lesson."

Augustin shrunk into himself at the sound of Rosita sighing tiredly.

"Again? Augustin..."

"I didn't mean to be rude, Mother! She just taught something that I already knew and I didn't want to be rude by falling asleep in class or talking."

"Come on, Rosita, the kid has a point." Her husband came to their son's rescue as well.

"It doesn't make it excusable."

"What can we do except warning him? Be there with him during class? Confiscate his books?"

Desmond noticed his son's horrified look, probably at the thought that she just might decide to take his books away, making him chuckle.

"Don't worry, Son, your books aren't going anywhere, I'm vouching for it." He said as he sprung him up a bit to better his hold.

"I wouldn't make promises..." Rosita said in a tone that made the boys realize she was considering it until she saw the very sad look her son was giving her and she couldn't bring herself into ruining such a special day to him (and her, honestly) and ended up sighing.

"Alright. But it doesn't mean I approve of this behavior, Augustin. Be sure to apologize and try not to do this again, okay?"

"Okay, Mother." Augustin nodded quietly before they all started walking home.

"So what I hear, my little man got himself a friend?" The little boy's face lit up at the mention made by his father while his mother confirmed, "Indeed he has. Apperantely it's the temporary young student in class."
