Phostlight's Island.
Tintin POV:
A while later, the radio room came on line.
"Captain! We've just intercepted a message from the Perry! They have the meteorite in sight!" He told us urgently.
"You know, you should really start telling us about good things as well!" Malory told him but I could see the concern on her and Captain's faces.
"We still have a chance, Captain! We've got the sea plane!" I reminded and pointed over my back at the general direction of it.
Malory POV:
As fast as we could, we put on the sea plane's coats and flying goggles. I grabbed Snowy and Tintin took the research's folded flag from Captain as we stood on top of the plane's wing.
"Good luck!" He wished us and we climbed in.
Soon, we were in the air.
Tintin and I were searching for the island through our respective binoculars.
"There it is!" He suddenly exclaimed and pointed forward.
And there it was! A bleak piece of land, sticking out of the water in front us. Anyone else, who didn't know about the happenings of the last month would've mistook this for a part of an island that just didn't happen to be covered with ice and snow, despite the temperature in this area.
"Captain? We've sighted the meteorite!" Tintin contacted the remaining crew on the Aurora.
"Really?! Hurray!" Captain cheered and I could hear the rest of the crew doing as well, probably listening in. I could also hear a punch and someone groaning and I could only imagine that apparently Captain cheered a little too strong, "What's it's position?"
"It forms an island slopping slightly towards the west and- Great Snakes! The Perry has beaten us to it!" Tintin exclaimed.
"What?" I cried in disbelief.
No One POV:
"The Perry has beaten them to it..." Captain repeated for the crew but mostly to himself, saddened and disappointed.
The Perry's captain and first mate noticed the plane gliding pass them.
"That plane is from the Aurora!" The captain realized.
That's when Malory noticed something and tapped Tintin's back.
"No, wait! Look! They just launched a boat!" She told him and the pilot once she spotted a small boat with the Perry's flag at front.
"They're just lowering a boat!" Captain repeated and everyone on deck gasped hopefully. The competition was still on and tight!
Without a second thought, Tintin and Malory decided their stop was right now, the moment Malory fully stepped out on the wing with Tintin's help, they held on to each other's hands and jumped down with him holding the flag in his free hand and her holding Snowy with hers.
Their parachutes opened a bit after that. They were nearing the destination.
"Pull!" The man at the front of the Perry's boat ordered to the rowers.
"Come on! Come on! Pull! Pull!" Their captain rushed from his spot on the ship despite knowing they won't hear him.
They too were nearing the island, but Tintin and Malory were about to land on top of the island.
The captain noticed his first mate aiming a rifle towards one of them and jumped when he realized that the said one was a girl and hurried to move the rifle, "Have you gone crazy, Frank??"
