The End of the World- Wait, What??
No One POV:
Somewhere in space, a strange occurrence has happened. It started as a supernova of a star. Once exploding, it turned to blazing meteors.
So what was strange here? During their flight, the meteors were suddenly all pulled back by some unknown force, causing another big boom and disappearing from their previous spot with flash of blue light.
Due to that, the blue orb was now shining brightly like the sun in the Earth's sky.
And burning just as much.
Malory POV:
My glance landed on a couple sitting on a bench not too far from us and I averted my gaze, biting on my inner lip bitterly.
"Isn't it a wonderful night, Snowy?" Tintin suddenly asked as we walked down the street.
Snowy was panting with his tongue out up until then and barely managed to bark in responde.
"Well yes, it is a... little hot." Tintin admitted and I also started noticing that I'm slightly sweating. And not just because of the awkward atmosphere between us.
"A little? It's like a noon hour on August and it's March!" I complained, wiping the sweat away. Come to think of it, it's also bright like it's the middle of August... I looked up at the moon, not understanding how does it shine so brightly before realizing this wasn't the moon!
"Look at this!" I stopped us and pointed at the glowing object.
"Mhmm, that's strange! I've never noticed that star before." Tintin said.
"Me neither." I agreed as we both inspected it. Something was not right with it. It was so too big to be a normal star and don't get me started with the light.
"I smell a story here..." Tintin suspected.
"Looks like our evening stroll will be cut short. And thank heavens it is, it's getting a little too hot to my taste." I said, fanning myself slightly.
"Come on!" Tintin rushed Snowy and I and we went home.
After browsing through the phonebook, I found the right number and read it out loud for Tintin to dial.
It rang once before being picked up.
"Hello, observatory? I'm calling about a-"
"No, no, no, it's impossible!" A voice cut Tintin in such a loud tone even I could hear it from the couch across him but it didn't sound like the speaker was addressing him.
"Hello?" Tintin tried again in concern, "Hello?"
"How dare you call yourself a scientist?!" The hollow ring came back.
"They hung up!" Tintin said in disbelief, looking at the ear piece.
So with not much choice left, we left the nice air of our apartment and went to the observatory at the outskirt of Brussels, getting there around midnight.
"You know what? We should really get a vehicle." I stated as I fanned myself stronger this time, the heat and the distance were just too much. It seemed like it was getting hotter and hotter to the point we had to take our jackets off.
Tintin rang the doorbell three times but no answer came which made us worry so he opened the bit heavy metal door and we entered.
"Hello?" Tintin called, his voice echoing in the metallic, big and empty building but no answer came once more so we proceeded to the staircase which led to the only door around. It had a star on it.
