A/N - Happy New Year in 2025 !!
Because I haven't been posting actively for the whole month, I might as well spoil ya'll with these one shots on the first days of the year.
This is going to be a rather long one. And for once, I'm not going to make this a 2-parter! You're welcome :D
Anyway! Buckle up, 'cause this is going to be one heck of a ride. (I hope).
Enjoy <3
- Y/N's POV -
You hid in your closet, crying quietly as your parents argued over you again. How dangerous your existence was to the family.
You hugged your knees to your chest and sobbed. All you wanted was to celebrate the New Year's with your family. Heck, you even sacrificed the camp's yummy dinners for this.
You remembered how Nico had invited you to spend the holidays with him. Maybe go on a trip together and play in the snow.
God's, you shouldn't have had declined. Nico had been your crush for who knows how long. You loved every bit of his dorky, sweet self.
But hey, they say family comes first.
Wincing at the sound of another slap your mother threw at your father, you decided that you had had enough. Maybe spending New Year's Eve all alone would be better than anything that you would have to deal with in this household.
You snuck out of your bedroom door silently, packing a few of your belongings and some food just to celebrate by yourself.
You immediately headed over to your favorite tree by the cliff not so far out of town. It was a tall, greet cherry tree. Soft and perfect in all its flaws.
It was also the place where you and Nico first met.
The night was a peaceful one, and you could hear all sorts of parties and celebrations going on everywhere.
The homes of families, the malls filled with friends, the church, and even the towns square. Everybody was waiting for the magical countdown to start the new year.
When you had finally reached to your spot, you sat down with a sigh.
Looking out over the horizon, the city was filled with pretty, warm, and colorful lights. It was beautiful.
You sat down at the edge of the cliff, swinging your legs playfully over the ledge. You took a deep breath, breathing in the fresh air.
After setting up the picnic blanket and basket, you took out some of your favorite snacks and drinks, a candle, and a small party horn.
Amused at your own antiques, you scrolled through your playlists and set on some of your preferred music.
It was nearly midnight.
- Nico's POV -
Nico di Angelo had been restless the whole night.
How foolish it was, planning a romantic confession for his love at the last minute.
It had been a few hours before midnight when Nico had started running around the city, trying to find the perfect bouquet of flowers, chocolates, and plushie that you might like.
Thoughts of serious doubt and worry ran through his head. What if he didn't read the signs correctly? What if he's just a delusional, lovesick weirdo? Or worse, what if you didn't like him back?
Nico shook his jitters away as he arrived at your front door. Right before he could ring the doorbell, he heard a loud, audible slap.
He gasped, taking a step back. No, he shouldn't interfere.
But this was you he was talking about.
Nico crept quietly around the house, climbing up a tree from your garden and peered into your bedroom door in the second floor. His eyebrows knitted in concern. You were no where to be seen.
When the yelling grew louder and louder, Nico immediately took the hint. Your voice was no where to be heard. And knowing you, this meant that you were not there.
Otherwise, you would have yelled the whole place down for speaking to you that way.
Nico sat down on the tree branch, looking down at the gifts he held carefully in his arms.
Glancing at the watch on his wrists, Nico realized that he had only half an hour to find you before the clock strike twelve.
He was a hopeless romantic, after all.
But he would never admit that.
Nico jumped down from the branch and immediately ran to the one place he hoped of finding where you might be.
The tree where you met.
- Third Person's POV -
"Y/N? Y/N!" Nico called hesitantly, looking around the area in a panic as he could hear the townsfolk starting the countdown.
"10! 9! 8!"
"Yeah?" you chirped up from behind the willow tree, looking up at the breathless boy as he dropped down on his knees next to you.
The picnic blanket crinkled slightly under his weight as Nico di Angelo threw the gifts aside.
"7! 6! 5!"
You could hear the fireworks shooting upwards with a slight whoosh through the air, though not quite exploding yet.
"I love you," he whispered, wrapping you in a tight bear hug, "Please, have me as yours. Please."
"4! 3! 2!"
Time had stopped. For a moment, you were taken back to the night you met.
It all had been a play of time. A random meeting. A sudden occurence.
Lost, separated halves had been reunited that night. You had thought, for all these years, that it was only you that felt the instant, strong bond that you both shared.
You thought, maybe, that it was only on your party that felt the connection spark.
But oh, those eyes. Those dark eyes that pleaded for you to have him.
And for once, the fates were on your side.
"1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!"
You didn't even bother to answer Nico. You just pulled him close and into a kiss.
Fireworks erupted in the background as the two of you melted into the kiss.
You and Nico held onto one another in a firm grip, pulling away just enough to catch your breath.
"I love you too," you whispered through glassy eyes, pressing your forehead against his, "With all my heart."
"Happy New Year, darling."
"Happy New Year, my love."
A/N - Take me back to the night we met ~
To everyone who had been continuously asking for a happy-ending story, here you go! I had lots and lots of fun writing this one, especially with all the different combinations of POVs.
Seriously, how often do I write a sweet one shot AND post a 1,000 - word story without a second part?
Love you all! And once again, Happy New Year in 2025! I wish you all a good night <3
Bye-Bye!
