A/N - Happy title yayy! <3

hello everyone! I haven't posted here in a while, haven't I? That's because I've been 1) very sick, 2) on holiday, 3) busy with personal projects.

However I am back here with a sudden stroke of inspiration. I know it might seem a little bit messy here and there, but I hope that you all could still enjoy!

Also, Merry Christmas ya'll!

G/P : Godly Parent

M/P : Mortal Parent

- Third Person's POV -

You've had a crush on Nico for so, so long. Maybe it's been three years, or four? Maybe more. However long it was, it was getting noticeable enough for everyone in camp to know.

It's typical, isn't it? You fell in love with someone who was totally out of your league. Nico was the freaking hero of Olympus! You were a hopeless nobody of G/P. There was no way Nico would ever love a girl like you.

And you were right about that. Perhaps it was the fact that Nico had turned cold by the death of his sister, Bianca di Angelo, and one of his best friends, Jason Grace.

Deep down, you understood. You had lost your M/P at a very young age and your closest half-sibling's due to the two wars.

You decided not to let that get to you. After years of admiring Nico from afar, you decided to pursue him. After all, there was no way that Nico hadn't noticed your deep affection for the guy.

Right?

At first, Nico only brushed your attempts off with a shrug, maybe taking your love as a playful joke. It didn't hurt you as much as you thought it would, knowing that it would take much, much longer for Nico to fall for you.

He was generally a very kind person, you could tell. But it still hurt you to see how skittish and distant Nico was whenever you tried to talk to him.

Maybe he was uncomfortable with you. Were you that weird? You didn't know.

You had sat next to him in the dining hall during meals, joined him during his scheduled trainings, and made him lots and lots of handmade gifts.

But it all went to vain. You never got anything more than a cold shoulder and wouldn't be able to see those gifts anywhere in sight. Had he thrown them away?

It broke your poor heart. You paused your attempts and hopes for Nico to ever reciprocate your feelings, and he must have had picked up on your sudden mood change.

You thought that maybe, just maybe, Nico had grown tired of you.

However, you were surprised to see him starting to act way nicer to you now. First, he showed up to your cabin door with a bouquet of your favorite flowers he knew you liked, took you out to hang out, and ate with you everyday in the dining hall.

You enjoyed the change. Nico was awesome company. You liked how gentle and caring he was, how patient and kind he had grown to be.

"I'm sorry I acted like such a jerk when you were, you know..." Nico mumbled shyly, scratching the back of his neck to try to difuse the sudden awkwardness.

You chuckled brightly, patting Nico's back in a friendly manner with a soft thump, "Nah, we're cool. Just thought that we might be friends back then. Or maybe even get the chance to grow closer."

"I want one now," Nico whispered, gently leaning forwards to press his forehead against yours. The night was soft, the area was quiet. Everything was perfect.

Right before Nico was able to kiss you, you pulled away ever so suddenly. Nico's eyes visibly showed his disappointment.

"Did I do something?"

You sighed frustratedly, covering your face in your hands and burying your nose into your palms.

"Nico, I'm not in love with you anymore."

You expected him to be slightly disappointed, or maybe even confused, on why you didn't have feelings for him anymore. Why had you give up? Why didn't you try harder? Why didn't you wait for him?

Instead, your heart fell at his next words.

"I didn't know you ever were," Nico whispered breathlessly, his eyes welling up with tears.

"I'm sorry."

A/N - I've had this idea for a while now, but I never had the proper time for a good sit down and write. And if you couldn't tell, it was inspired by the trope "she fell first, but he fell harder" and "right person wrong time".

I guess you could never trust Mr. Oblivious to get the hint >:(

I hope I did an acceptable job in this one shot. And BTW, I'm sorry to say that requests would be closed for now. I've found plenty of ideas spread across my comment sections, and I should really get to writing!

Thank you all so, so much for your constant love and support. Once again, I wish a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in 2025 everyone!
