A/N - this oneshot is specifically requested by the lovely @Emma38130817, "so you've done a nightmare one. Why not a panic attack?"
Alright, then. Happy reading!
- Third Person' POV -
After the war against Kronos and Gaea, to no one's surprise, you and Nico began to date each other.
It was adorable. At first, you and Nico were too shy to even kiss or hold hands. Now, Nico was openly cuddling up to you at every moment possible.
He was a cute, clingy thing. Perhaps it was the fact that he denied his love language for physical touch for so long that now he craves it.
And what better way than to express his love for hugs and cuddles than with you?
The whole camp still isn't used to seeing Nico trailing after you everyday, practically begging for you to run your fingers through his dark locks or cup his face and pepper it with kisses.
He yearned for every ounce of your affection.
However, you were the only one who knew of the reason behind his actions.
Nico was traumatized, to say the least. The impact of the two wars had affected him in a minor psychological damage that no one else could understand.
Except for you.
You were the very first person that Nico was willingly able to open up to about his struggles, seeing you as some sort of refuge and comfort to his troubled soul.
Sadly, it did not help with the fact that he experienced panic attacks every now and then.
That was why he was the clingy, cuddly cutie like he is.
Just like today.
It was a regular evening in Camp Half-Blood. The sun was setting and the campers were gathering around the pavilion to have dinner together.
As usual, you went off to pick up Nico from his evening nap. Poor thing, always staying up so late into the night and needing to take frequent naps throughout the day.
You knocked at the Hades Cabin, calling out for your boyfriend.
"Darling?" you knocked on the door again, "Nico? I'm going to come in, okay?"
Without waiting any further for a reply, you turned the handle and walked into the room.
Inside was pitch-black. You flicked the light switch on. "Gosh, Neeks. Are you a vampire or something?"
You looked around for a while, even peeking into the bathroom. Nothing.
"Where are you?" you mumbled to yourself, turning on your heel to go look for him in the training arena instead.
All of a sudden, before you could even step out of the door, you were met with a panting, sobbing Nico.
Percy was struggling to hold him upright, his eyebrows knitted in worry and concern.
"I found him behind one of the peach trees," Percy looked over at you, "Mumbling to himself and clutching at his throat."
"Thanks, Perce," you smiled weakly as Percy handed Nico over to you.
"I can't think of giving Nico to anyone else but you to help," Percy explained, "He's yours, now."
Once Nico fully registered who you were, he began to limp pathetically closer to you.
His eyes were opened wide, a panicked and dazed look glazing over his pale face.
"Y/N," he gasped, crumpling onto the floor in front of you, "Help me, please."
You gave a polite nod to percy, slammed the door shut, dropped to the floor, then immediately cradling Nico close to your chest.
"I'm here," you whispered soothingly, pressing frantic kisses all over Nico's face as he squirmed, "I'm here."
"Hold me," he whimpered pleadingly, "I can't breathe."
For about a quarter of an hour, you just sat there, holding Nico, kissing him, and whispering sweet nothings into his ear.
After a while, Nico's breathing steadied and his eyes could close properly.
He tucked himself comfortably under your chin, nuzzling against your neck as he sought for your comfort and warmth.
"I love you," he whispered softly against your skin, "I love you, I'm sorry."
You shook your head and pressed your lips against the side of Nico's head, "There's nothing to be sorry for, my darling. I love you, too."
Nico looked up at you with those sweet, adorable eyes you loved and adored. "Stay with me?"
"Obviously," you cooed, giving him fluttery kisses from his forehead down to the tip of his nose. "I'll ask Percy to send our dinner over here. We can eat together."
"No, no. It's okay," Nico stammered, trying his best to get up and stand on his own. "Let's get dinner together, I wanna walk with you."
I want to follow you, Nico meant. But he would never say that out loud.
And he didn't have to. You already knew what he wanted.
"Okay," you chuckled, allowing Nico to lace his fingers together with yours affectionately. "Let's go."
A/N - thanks for much for the request! I really enjoyed writing it.
