A/N - this request is from the lovely @Emma38130817. Basically, she requested a different version of "I Hear You" and wanted to see my take on it.

Your wish is my command!

Enjoy <3

- Third Person's POV -

Nico was deaf, and you knew exactly what you were getting into the moment you agreed to start dating him.

In fact, you had to constantly remind yourself to accentuate your words in order for Nico to read your lips as you often forget about his disability.

Nico actually loves that very much about you. He found it ever so endearing to have you treat him as a normal human being, and not communicate with him as differently as the average person would to another.

However, it became a problem on the day you wanted to ask him out on a date.

You spotted Nico strolling around the grounds of Camp Half-Blood, calling for him excitedly to ask if he was ready for your movie night in his cabin.

To your surprise, Nico gave you the cold shoulder and walked on.

You tried again, calling for your boyfriend as Nico did nothing but walked on. He didn't even bother to give you any eye contact.

A tad bit upset, you stormed off into the other direction.

You spend the rest of the afternoon ranting to your best mate- Aaron, the son of Hephaestus, all about how annoying Nico was to you.

"Can you believe it?" you scoffed, "Nico didn't even bother looking at me!"

The son of Hephaestus scrunched up his eyebrows, though you couldn't tell if it was because of your story or from the sheer concentration he was giving on his new tinker.

"Uh-huh," he replied absentmindedly, peering closer to the small, mechanical thingamabob he was holding. "Isn't he supposed to be all heads over heels for you?"

"That's what I thought too!" you exclaimed. "Like, if he didn't want to go on our date or had other plans, I would have understood!"

"Maybe he was in a rush?" Aaron tried again, looking over at you skeptically.

You slumped against a tree defeatedly, "No way. He was walking as if he had all the time in the world."

Aaron paused. After a while, he began to chuckle. Then snort. Then downright laughed at your face.

"What's so funny?" you demanded, still innocently clueless. "Stop laughing at me!"

"Y/N, you're a bloody idiot." Aaron teased. "Was Nico, perhaps, facing away from you?"

"That's right," you answered stiffly, not appreciating Aaron's version of help at all. "I don't see why this is a laughing matter, though."

"Kinda is," Aaron flicked his fingers against your forehead. "Because your boyfriend is... oh, I don't know- deaf?"

You blinked. For a moment, you felt your brain short-circuited.

Then everything clicked.

"OH MY GODS!" you yelled, springing up to your feet in a panic. "I completely forgot!"

Aaron shrugged, "And you're leaving the poor guy, in his cabin, all alone, to watch a movie for a date he thought was going to be with you?"

You managed to shoot Aaron a dirty look before sprinting towards the Hades cabin.

Nico was sitting in the middle of his cabin, laying out a few dishes that he clearly made himself.

Your heart shattered. There he was, the love of your life, setting up for a movie night, all alone in his cabin.

You wanted to cry.

Probably about three hours had passed after the time the two of you had agreed to meet.

Nevertheless, Nico had still waited patiently for you. It even looked like he had been going back and forth to the dining hall to reheat the food.

Nico, finally noticing you, looked up and gave you a weak smile. He sadly signed "Do you have time for me now?"

You immediately pounced on Nico, attacking him with aggressive cuddles and kisses.

"I'm so sorry," you signed back, eyes tearing up slightly. "You must be so upset with me."

Nico shook his head, pecking you lovingly on the cheek. "I'm just happy you're here with me now."
