AN - to the lovely @Gracie_stories, here is a one shot as a response to your request!

(I'm not going to post the comment up here, since she literally gave me a whole plot to work with. So no spoilers!)

I hope this was up to your expectations, girl <3

And to all, happy reading!

G/P : Godly Parent

- Third Person's POV -

You were raised in a military, mortal family.

Well, it wasn't exactly a military-soldier sort of family, but a family of ruffians.

Since your dad refused to get remarried for still being in love with your G/P,

Though it was sweet and all, it wasn't sweet that your father adopted a bunch of boys to be your brothers.

You had two older brothers and a younger one, all more and more reckless than the last.

Still, those three guys loved their sister with all their heart. Just like little soldiers, they swore to protect you no matter the cost.

Alas, boys will be boys. Their rough, loud, and wild personalities eventually rubbed off on you, making you act like a sort of tomboy.

Now, as the only girl in the family, you lacked the knowledge on how to dress pretty, wear makeup, and overall act like your typical girl. You joined multiple sport clubs and wore hoodies like your guy-friends.

One of the few things that you were able to keep something sort of remotely "feminine" was your long hair, as your dad insisted you keep it that way for parties and family gatherings.

You weren't exactly uncomfortable with who you turned out to be, but being a bold tomboy in Camp Half-Blood didn't come out as nicely.

You often hang out with the guys as you have similar preferences and interest in the topic. However, some of the Aphrodite girls disliked you talking and interacting with their crushes, their jealousy spiking up at an alarming rate.

Your biggest bully, Kathleen, was the worst of all.

"What kind of a girl are you?" she would sneer, showing you into the dirt as her minions laughed maniacally, "You're more like an emo boy, than anything."

Nico, your best friend, would always rush to your side, helping you dust off the dirt and grime with a sorry look on his face.

He was the one person you could be quiet with.

He never really understood what happened, since Kathleen always managed to get away before the Ghost King could witness what she had done to his best friend.

When Nico crouched next to you, kneeling over to gently wipe the mud off your cheeks, you knew you couldn't possibly tell him what had actually happened.

Here comes the actual emo boy, you thought, feeling slightly amused.

You see, you and Nico have been close friends for some time now. All the while, the two of you were outcasts in this cold, strange world.

And besides, you had a big-time crush on this guy.

Quickly, you learned not to get your hopes up on love. Seeing all the other guys in camp absolutely swooning over pretty, dainty girls, you knew you didn't have a chance. Why would Nico even look your way?

But the opportunity came to you like a vice, coming over from the Aphrodite and Dionysus's cabin annual party.

You had heard about it a few months prior, as they always held the event at around the same date every year. This was your chance. This was your shot to take.

But oh, how pathetic you were about it.

You knew about the date. You knew who you wanted to ask. You knew what you had desperately dreamed of.

For a girl who's been bullied all her life for having the mentality of a man, you sure didn't act as confident as one.

Before you even knew it, you only had a week left to ask Nico out.

Well, someone's gotta make the first move.

You were hanging out with Nico by the lake, talking and laughing as you usually would with him. It felt so peaceful, so right.

"Hey, Neeks?" you began awkwardly, already regretting your decision to do so, "Have you got a date to the party? The one everyone's been talking about?"

Nico's face fell slightly, his eyes showing a sort of panic in his eyes. "Why do you ask?"

"You didn't answer my question," you noted, looking at him closely. What was up with this guy?

"W-Well, yes. I do," Nico croaked, his mouth open slightly and his throat dry, "Were you meaning to ask me?"

You froze. Why did he look so disappointed?

"Nevermind that now," you chuckled awkwardly, trying to diffuse the tension, "May I know who you're going with though?"

"Kathleen," Nico answered, dismissing the question with a hurried wave of his hand, "You were going to ask me?"

"Yeah, dummy," you rolled your eyes, looking away from Nico's upset expression, "Don't try to make this even more embarrassing for me."

Before Nico could say another word, you left him there. Sitting in the dirt and muck.

Gods, you should've seen how heartbroken he looked.

"Y/N..." Nico whispered into the dark, watching as you tried to hide your angry tears, "I wish I knew you wanted me."
