A/N - here is an interesting take of a popular prompt.
You know, with a sprinkle of angst here and there.
Also, I'm trying to get my creative juices flowing so that I will be able to write a bunch of my projects today, whether for school, competitions, or for fun (I have about seven in my drafts).
With that being said, happy reading!
- Third person's POV -
Nico di Angelo had a peaceful life.
He was a married man (obviously to you) with two children, a beautiful boy and girl.
Bianca and Jason were like two peas in a pod. Everyday after work, Nico would have his heart melted into a puddle of mush at the sight of his babies.
They both looked exactly like you, especially since the duo were twins.
Even after years of struggling to make the day's worth, Nico took his job very seriously as their father.
Finally, your birthday was just around the corner. You weren't home, so Nico was the one who had to take care of the kids.
"Good morning, my darlings," Nico cooed as he awakened his two twin toddlers. "Let's prepare for mommy's special day, okay?"
Bianca squealed at the sight of her father, while Jason grumbled and tried to get back to bed.
"I don't wanna wake up," Jason whined, ignoring his sister as Bianca tried to shake him away.
"It's mommy's birthday! It's mommy's birthday!" Bianca giggled. "Come on, baby brother. We're going to make a cake!"
Jason's eyes immediately flew open at the thought of cake.
"CAKE!" he screamed excitedly, jumping up and out of bed.
Nico and Bianca laughed in amusement as they ran after Jason, trying to keep up with him as he made his way to the kitchen.
Once Nico walked through the door, he immediately rushed to help Jason with the eggs.
"I told you, Jason," Nico sighed as he placed the egg in a basket on the counter, "Let me get the ingredients, you and your sister can help with the mixing and stirring."
"But I'm big and strong!" Jason protested, showing off his chubby arms to his father, "I can carry things for you!"
Bianca bonked Jason on the head with a rubber spatula.
As the two children began to squabble, Nico immediately broke the fight and set each twin on opposite sides of the table.
"Aright, now," he announced, "Jason, you help me mix the batter. Bianca, you prepare the frosting."
The twins put on their serious faces and got to work, their mouths shutting up and their tongue poking out of their teeth in their efforts to focus on the duty at hand.
The day went by quickly as the small family made preparations for your birthday.
Finally, when the clock struck at the evening hour, Nico told the twins to get ready for their bath.
Instead of going to the showers, Nico could hear the two sneaking into their room. Perhaps they were playing together to avoid taking a bath.
Nico shook his head and chuckled fondly, he would go upstairs to bathe them later.
As he was washing the dishes, instead of the usual squeals of laughter and excitement, Nico heard something different coming out from the children's bedroom.
He rushed upstairs, only to find out that the sound was of Bianca and Jason's sobs.
Nico peeked hesitantly through the crack in the door, his heart breaking at the sight,
The twins were hugging a picture of you close to their chests, crying softly as they huddled together.
You had died giving birth to Bianca and Jason four years ago.
The doctors weren't able to stop the blood flow, eventually leading you to pass on into the Underworld.
Bianca was sniffling miserably as she whispered a soft prayer to Hades.
"Grandpa?" she called softly, "Could you please let us see mommy, just this once?"
Jason nodded and whispered, "It's her birthday today, pops. She must be so lonely without us and Dad."
Nico couldn't take it anymore. Sure, he should go into the room and try to comfort his children.
But he simply couldn't.
Nico ran to his bedroom, the one he used to share with you, and closed the door shut.
He collapsed onto the floor and cried into his arms, hugging his knees tightly to his chest.
It's been so long since he had seen you, and he missed you dearly.
That night, Nico saved a piece of your birthday cake, bringing it out to the gardens and setting it aflame.
"Father," Nico prayed silently, watching as the fire licked the icing clean, "Please, take this to Y/N."
The ring on his finger shone under the moonlight, as if it was a poor imitation of what your smile used to look like to him. Beautiful and bright.
Nico swallowed down a sob, trying to stifle his cries in order to avoid waking up the children.
"And tell her that Bianca, Jason, and I love her very, very much."
His own father forbids him to visit you in the Underworld.
How cruel could the fates be?
A/N - I'm absolutely exhausted with all the drama going on with my life. Is a peaceful, quiet week too much to ask for?
Anyway, I'm reaching the end of my final semester in this grade, so I would be spending hours on my laptop everyday.
I hope you guys are doing well. Have a great day!
