A/N - hii! Welcome back to another oneshot post made by yours truly.
I'm kind of running out of ideas and am currently writing in the spur of a moment every time inspiration strikes.
So yeah, my oneshot drafts are decreasing ever so slowly.
But that's alright! This just means that I'm training my writing skills. I think I'll even be able to publish my book very soon.
Alright, that's all from me.
Happy reading!
- Third Person's POV -
Nico was really, really good at basketball. But nobody knew that he was.
Except you.
The story goes like this:
You adored the arts. Every time there was a break between classes, you would spend it by drawing all sorts of pretty sketches and colorings in your sketchbook.
That day, it was particularly noisy as a bunch of jocks from your class had decided to host a booger competition, seeing which one of them could shove the most between their fingernails.
Gross.
In your pursuit for tranquility, you seeked peace in the gymnasium, where no one could bother you.
You knew that nobody would be hanging out here, especially since it's dimly lit and really dusty. But hey, at least you found comfort in the silence and isolation.
Suddenly, your drawing session was interrupted by the squeaky swing of the gym doors. A timid, lanky boy walks in. His eyes were as dark as his hair, his skin pale and fair.
It was Nico di Angelo.
You knew him because you went to Camp Half Blood together every summer, but never had the guts to talk to him.
What was the point of it all, anyway? No Hero of Olympus would ever bother to pay much attention to a quiet dork like you.
Nico didn't question how the gym lights were already on, assuming that someone else had forgotten to turn it off during their PE class.
He took out a basketball from the closet and began to play.
You watched in awe and adoration as Nico sprinted around the court and made more baskets than you could count.
Still hiding in the midst of the stands, you began to sketch out Nico's fluid movements in your sketchbook. He was flawless: the perfect muse.
You were so immersed in the drawing process, that you didn't even notice Nico was looking straight at you.
As you were bent over your sketchbook, you noticed a shadow looming over you.
You looked up to see the eyes of Nico di Angelo staring into your soul.
"Gods!" you gasped, jumping slightly in fright. "You scared me!"
"I scared you?" Nico chortled, "You're not the one being stalked by paparazzi."
He flashed you a smirk as he looked down at what you were drawing. "I look hot."
You blushed furiously and hid your sketchbook behind your back. "You don't usually act like this back at camp. Aren't you supposed to be gloomy and sullen at all times?"
What you didn't know was that Nico was already screaming internally ever since he saw you in the stands. Gosh, he wondered what came over him to suddenly have the flirting skills of Leo Valdez.
"I can be talkative too, you know," Nico said nervously, his sudden burst of confidence diminishing under your curious gaze. Gods, your eyes were pretty. "With the right person, I mean."
You grinned, watching as Nico fiddled shyly with his fingers. You patted the space next to you and smiled. "Wanna hang out?"
"Yes, please." Nico replied, a bit too quickly to his liking.
An amused giggled escaped your lips, making the poor boy's heart melt with pure affection.
You pulled out your sketchbook from behind your back, hesitantly showing Nico your creations.
"This'll be the first time I've ever shown my drawings to someone," you whispered as Nico leaned in closer.
"Nobody has ever seen me play, either," Nico spoke softly into your ear. "We're even, now."
It was somewhere at that moment when the two of you found solace and freedom in one another. While the pair's talents and passions were hidden away from the world, it remained open wide in each other's company.
A/N - I am literally drowning in all the school work that needs to be done and I need to release my pent-up frustration somewhere. Writing always helps.
This is your personal reminder to always make time for your hobbies, btw. Don't overwork yourself!
As always, thank you so, so much for all of your love and support. It means the world to me <3
