A/N - we're back with part two!
Anyway, let me use this space to ask you guys' opinions.
So I wasn't actually planning on writing a second part to the oneshot I posted, "Promises", since I'm already quite happy with the ending because... you know me, ✨angst✨!
Though, from popular demand, I've been getting plenty of requests from readers who wanted to see what would happen next - and I might ust reconsider my decision.
Comment "aye" if you think "Promises" is worth a second part !
Alright, that's all from me. Enjoy reading <3
~ flashback ~
"Nevermind that now," you chuckled awkwardly, trying to diffuse the tension, "May I know who you're going with though?"
"Kathleen," Nico answered, dismissing the question with a hurried wave of his hand, "You were going to ask me?"
"Yeah, dummy," you rolled your eyes, looking away from Nico's upset expression, "Don't try to make this even more embarrassing for me."
Before Nico could say another word, you left him there. Sitting in the dirt and muck.
Gods, you should've seen how heartbroken he looked.
"Y/N..." Nico whispered into the dark, watching as you tried to hide your angry tears, "I wish I knew you wanted me."
- Third Person's POV -
You only had a day left before the party. And in all honesty, you didn't even want to go.
But it looked so fun. You had made plenty of other friends in the past few months, and the Seven would be there.
Including emo-boy.
Looking into the mirror of your cabin, you knew what you had to do.
For the next few hours, you spent time to yourself to prep up how you looked. You borrowed your cabin sister's dress for the night and did a simple hairstyle on you.
Eventually, you attempted to try and copy off some of the Aphrodite kids' makeup. It kinda looked like you caked on a bunch of grease on your face, so you had to wipe off half of it.
Your heart dropped slightly. In all your life, you never practiced makeup before. What if you really need it for the future? For job interviews? For first dates?
You shook your head mentally, trying to get those stupid thoughts out of your head.
After a while, you stepped back to look at yourself in the full-body mirror.
Huh, not too shabby.
You grinned slightly as you spun in front of the mirror, happy with how your hair and your pretty dress looked.
You felt more confident than ever, having been able to embrace your feminine side.
Curse your brothers back home for never teaching you anything.
Though you didn't have a date for tonight, you proudly walked over to the Dionysus cabin with the Aphrodite decorations.
There were pink streamers and ribbons and balloons everywhere. Many kids were hanging out with their friends or crushes, sometimes holding hands and blushing at each other shyly.
A Hermes kid, whom you recognized to be Arthur, kept sneaking glances at you.
He looked absolutely adorable, nervously fiddling with his fingers as he walked up to you.
"Hey," he smiled shyly, "I'm Arthur. M-Mind dancing with me?"
You chuckled in amusement as you took his hand, allowing him to lead you to the dance floor for a slow waltz.
You were having fun, laughing and cracking jokes with the new guy. He was genuinely nice and friendly.
When he excused himself to the bathroom, you couldn't help but wander your eyes to where Nico was standing, trying to shake Kathleen off as he refused to dance with her.
Upset and angry, Kathleen went over to you to sneer and make fun. Gods, is she that bored?
"Hey, loser," she cackled, tugging at your dress, "Put together a bunch of rags, I see? Did someone invite Cinderella to the ball?"
"At least I marry my prince in the end," you snorted, swirling your glass of juice absentmindedly, "How's your date?"
"Terrific," Kathleen lied through her teeth, "Your precious little Nico is so obsessed with me?"
"Did you knock your head or something, dude?" Nico popped up from behind her shoulder, "Did you not hear me saying that we're done?"
He pushed past her and stood in front of you, gently taking your hand in his as he whispered into your ear, "Hey, let's get out of here, yeah?"
You hesitated, locking eyes with Arthur, who was standing by the bathroom door.
He smiled sadly, yet nodded encouragingly as Nico wrapped an arm around your shoulder.
You stayed around for a bit to make sure Arthur had a friend, relieved that one of his cabin buddies tugged him over to play cards with a lively group.
You smirked at Kathleen. "You're wrong, by the way. I'm not more like an emo boy, than anything," you quoted her earliest insult, "I like an emo boy. Get it right next time."
Following Nico to his cabin, you couldn't help but blush a bit. The way the moonlight hit his hair at an angle was just right.
You sat down on the porch next to him, nodding in thanks as he handed you a bucket of fries he stole from the party.
"Is it obvious that I liked you?" he murmured, still a little nervous to look you in the eye properly.
"Not really," you whispered, staring at the wooden planks that you sat on, "Was it obvious that I liked you?"
"Nope," Nico chuckled fondly, gently tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear, "I guess we both need to work on expressing our feelings more."
"Yeah," you replied breathlessly as you locked eyes with the boy you loved, "Never thought that you wanted me."
A/N - Petition for Arthur to get a happy ending 😔
As a former tomboy, one of my biggest regrets is not practicing makeup enough. I'm a bit upset that I don't have the skills to doll myself up during weddings, birthday parties, and even something as fickle as hangouts.
And so, the moral of the story is to try anything you want before it's too late!
Thanks for reading, ya'll. I'm so sorry if some of your requests haven't been posted yet. But trust me, they're all in my drafts already!
