A/N - guys I just realized that since I write with an average of 700 words per one shot, then you multiply it by about 140, then it means I have written about 98,000 words for this collection.
That is INSANE.
But that also means that writing my very own book should also be easier for me, since I might as well say that I have written a book with the amount of stories I have.
Hmm or maybe I could actually publish this book? Just change the names and settings and stuff to build up a full romance collection?
We'll see!
- Third Person's POV -
You were an athlete. A good one, just so you know.
Everyone knew your name when you were first announced as the top winner against the opponent school.
Sure, cross-country was an overlooked sport. But in a marathon, you had the upper hand.
Your body was built for the tracks: tall, lean, and toned.
Nico was your number one fan. He knew how much you loved the sport and how much it meant to you, so he had spent every inch of his life supporting you during your preparation for the nationals.
Sadly, it was all in vain.
When you got to the stadium, you noticed how all the other runners had better looking bodies and a look in their eyes that made you feel all scared and intimidated.
And when the race started, you already knew you were fighting in a losing battle.
You had lost to a few other runners. Gods, you didn't even make it to the podium.
You were at the stinkin' fourth place.
It took so much of your energy to not just drop there to your knees and cry.
Nico immediately rushed to you, guiding you back to the changing rooms before driving you home to the safety of your shared apartment.
"You did beautifully, my love," Nico whispered, gently pressing a tender kiss against your forehead as he helped you to tuck yourself in bed.
"But I lost," you sniffed sadly.
"It was still really good, baby."
"I wanted it so bad," you wailed, tears already picking at the corners of your eyes.
"I'm still proud of you, you know."
Nico didn't even need to finish his sentence when you burst into sobs of despair.
"I tried so hard," you covered your face with the blanket in shame. "You know just how hard I worked, did you?"
"I watched you train everyday for three to four hours, darling," Nico's eyes softened as he cupped your face by the cheeks, using his thumb to carefully wipe your tears away. "No one deserved the medal more than you."
You locked eyes with the boy that was the love of your life. Nico di Angelo may look like a scary, terrifying Prince of Darkness, but you knew how he was deep down. He was nothing but a big softie who had love and care beyond anyone's capacity.
He gently fluffed up your pillows and hummed softly to you, cooing at you lovingly so that you could fall asleep.
"Get some rest, amor mio," Nico whispered in his husky, deep voice. "Let me take care of you."
And you believed him. You trusted Nico. You allowed him to cradle you in his arms as he lulled you to sleep.
"Thank you, Neeks," you mumbled against his chest. "For believing in me."
When you finally reached dream land, Nico laid his head back to join you.
Then, he heard a soft vibrate.
Nico peeked at the glowing screen of your phone to find an email from the national tournament.
There had been a disqualification. One of the runners had drunk a stamina-enhancing drug before the game, and was therefore eliminated.
You had gotten third place and were going to the International Championship. One step closer to achieving your dream for the Olympics.
Nico glanced at your peaceful, sleeping state. If he woke you up and told you now, you probably wouldn't sleep for the rest of the night.
He'll tell you first thing in the morning.
"I told you," Nico chuckled fondly, happily nuzzling into your hair. "I knew you would win. I just knew."
A.N - I've written the past few oneshots at school, taking advantage of the free time I have.
Speaking of which, I don't have much of it left.
Alright, then. I need to go back to focusing on my work.
