Today's the day. Chase's been teasing it all week. A song of his has never been so hyped up as this one. It was the first time in a long time since he's been on tiktokinsiders and tiktokroom. Of course, the last time he was such a hot topic was in 2020, and once again, it involves Charli Damelio.
Landon's been trying to go after him all week. One of his closest friends turned into the person he hated the most. Having to relive all the feelings while writing the song, the betrayal was still fresh in his mind. His fans still had his back though like always. It was them against the world.
His real friends congratulated him on the song, awkwardly but expected the friends they shared were silent on social.
He focused his energy on setting up for the party tonight. That night he waited until his label released it. The downloads skyrocketed. His socials continued to ding with notifs as more people tagged him about the song.
The tea pages posted his full lyrics. Surprisingly most of the comments were on his side, either about the breakup or saying how good his song is.
Aaron came up to him in the kitchen. "You should shut that off and just focus on the party."
Chase nodded, "You're right. I can deal with everything else later."
He stopped outside where the sound system was. "Who's ready to listen to All the Things I Hate About You!?"
Cheers of agreement rose up. Aaron stuck close by the majority of the night. The party didn't wind down until maybe one in the morning. Chase lost track of time, he just knew it was late.
He was just going to get ready to go to bed as the last of his guests left. He decided he would wait until tomorrow to clean up.
A timid knock echoed through the empty house. Chase's face scrunched. He was in his room and took off his shirt. He opened the door to see a small figure in a familiar black hoodie from Chinatown.
"Can I help you?"
The person lowered the hood. Immediately Chase rolled his eyes and closed the door halfway. "What are you doing here?"
"I need to talk to you."
He shook his head. "No, you don't get to do this. This is my fucking night, not Charli Damelio's."
"Please Chase."
He gritted his teeth, taking a deep breath. "You get ten minutes."
He lets her pass and into his room. This is the first since the breakup she's been here. She noticed the lone Mad Hatter, no Alice in sight. She swallowed the lump in her throat.
Chase stood by the door, he got on his phone and actually set a timer. He was finished when he crossed his arms. "Start talking."
She opened her mouth but no words came out.
"Nine minutes."
"I'm sorry."
His eyebrows rose, "You're sorry?"
She let out a slow breath, "Yes I am."
He scoffed, "If you think you can get me to delete the song you're wrong."
"Chase please—"
"No Charli! Chase ran a hand through his hair. "Do you have any idea how this feels? Do you fucking think I enjoyed writing this song?"
He took a step closer to her. "My best friend and first love hooking up behind my back with my close friend. The guy who was with me and helping me come to terms with our break up."
His muscles were taunted, the veins in his forearms and neck pulsating with every ragged breath. "I opened up to him about how hurt and confused I was after you broke up with me. Meanwhile, you two were laughing the whole FUCKING TIME!"
Charli had her arms wrapped around herself trying to protect herself from the onslaught of words. Chase had never been this angry with her in all the years they'd known each other.
"WHAT ABOUT THOSE THREE YEARS CHARLI HUH? DID IT MEAN NOTHING TO YOU?"
He choked on his tears and rubbed his palms into his reddening eyes. "Di–did our relationship mean that little to you?"
Silent tears were already escaping Charli's eyes. "This was never my intention. You have to believe me."
"It made me sick in my stomach whenever I thought of us one day breaking up and seeing you with another man but I knew it would eventually be ok because we were always going to be there as each other's rock. But the reality is you got with Landon, so honestly, I don't know what to believe anymore."
"I loved you Chase so much more than anyone in my life."
He closed his eyes and sneered, "Loved. I guess not enough to respect me as someone important in your life. You couldn't even give me a fucking reason when you broke up with me! I fucking killed myself repeatedly asking what I did wrong."
"Nothing! You didn't do anything wrong at all Chase. This was about me and what I wanted in life."
"What did you want? More money? More fame? Because I can guarantee I already make more than that fucking knockoff wannabe and as for fame? I'm creating a name for myself and working on my passion that no one else can do. What does that cocksucker have to his name? Just his daddy's."
"I couldn't help my feelings!" Charli cried.
"How long have you had feelings for him? Is that why you broke up with me?"
She was quiet, her eyes looking down at the floor before flicking to his briefly. That was all he needed.
He took a deep breath, cupping his face in both hands. "of course you did." He muttered under his breath. His hands clenched tightly. "Of course you fucking did."
He kicked his bed frame. "I gave you EVERYTHING! MY HEART, MY SOUL, MY LIFE! You didn't give me anything, did you? Because OBVIOUSLY YOU NEVER FUCKING RESPECTED ME AT ALL!"
"Of course I respect you! I think the world of you!" She gasped.
His sardonic laughter echoed, "You almost sound believable. If I didn't know you like I do I would say that would fool anybody else."
Charli huffed, "Why do you think I'm lying?"
"Because as I bitterly come to realize is that you're a lying hypocrite."
"Fuck you, Chase."
The wide grin on his lips through his tears sent a chill down her spine. "I wouldn't be able to handle it if one of my friends dated Chase. I would murder them."
Her mouth was slightly open, "That's different–"
"That's different?" "You even left me alone to face death threats and hate from the entire TikTok community when I kissed Nessa when we weren't even TOGETHER. I should've known then you will always try to play the victim."
The timer on his phone rang startling them out of their fight.
"Ten minutes are up. Time for you to get out of here."
"Chase–"
He shook his head, leading her out of his house with a hand on her shoulder.
Charli turned around to stare at him.
"Congratulations Charli, you finally became the LA girl you always wanted to be to fit in. A fake bitch only using people to get what they want."
"Now you get to deal with the consequences." He finally said before slamming the door in her face and closing out one of the most painful chapters of his life.

Honestly, this was really just for me. I needed to get my feelings out about the situation and how angry I was on behalf of Chase. He didn't deserve any of this shit. These oneshots will be sporadic I'm at a point where I don't care about Charli or her relationship anymore I just want to be here to support Chase. (1285 words)
