(Chapter 37 Continuation)
In Korea, Taeil has his phone up to his ears, hearing it ring. Taeyong walks beside Taeil and the two of them step into Doyoung’s house.
“Hyuck?” Taeil says when the call goes through.
“What?” Donghyuck answers through the cheers and shouting of the Dreamies in Mark’s house.
“Where are you?” Taeil asks, helping himself to the glass of water Doyoung quietly hands over to him. Taeyong, on the other hand, rejects the water and asks for milk instead. They then sit in the living room where Johnny, Yuta, Chittaphon, Jaehyun and Jungwoo are. “Why is it so noisy?”
“Now you want to know where I am and why it’s so noisy. I thought you said I was boring and you don’t want to hang out with me — you’d rather chill with Taeyong.” Donghyuck complains in annoyance, making sure that his voice expressed his sadness towards Taeil.
Taeil raises his glass of water at the guys as a form of greeting, and they respond back with salutations or thumbs up. After gulping down some water, he answers.“Hyuck, I didn’t mean it like that—”
“Well I meant what I said after you said that. Don’t talk to me until you realize my importance.” Donghyuck finishes. He cuts the call right before Taeil can clarify the little dispute between them.
“Dammit— I mean gosh.” He corrects himself, closing his phone and shaking his head. He glances at Doyoung who sat beside him and looked at him casually.
“Gosh? Wow, you are not the Taeil that raised me.” Doyoung comments the same line that he has been saying since Taeil got out of rehab.
Taeil rolls his eyes, looking at his other side where Taeyong sits beside him. He is chuckling from what Jungwoo said, although his eyes are glued to his phone where the display of Running Fred jumping over to the next bridge. “Hey,” Taeil calls, tapping his thigh.
“Mhm?” he hums without looking at Taeil.
“You know there’s a world outside of that phone.” Taeil informs. “So you can put it down and focus on what’s in front of you.”
Although the volume is low Taeil hears the cry of sheer pain that Running Fred makes when he falls through the broken bridge. Taeyong lazily turns his head to Taeil. After a good five seconds eye contact, he looks back at his phone, starting another round.
“Taeyong.” Taeil calls.
“What am I looking at?” Taeyong questions, still staring at his phone.
“Your phone.” Taeil answers seriously.
“And what’s in front of me?” Taeyong asks sarcastically. “Is it not my phone?” he raises a challenging brow.
“Wow,” Taeil sighs in disbelief at Taeyong. He looks at the other guys, listening on to what they say.
“I know,” Johnny agrees, pointing at Jaehyun. “When my hun takes pics of me, I look like a sexy god — not because of her picture skills or camera quality, but it’s because of my looks. But when I take pics of her, despite having fantastic camera quality and good picture skills, she looks… wrong.”
The guys laugh aloud, entertained by what Johnny said. Taeil on the other hand simply scoffs. “The disrespect towards ladies.” He mutters, referring to Johnny’s statement.
“My girl looks fresh in pics.” Chittaphon states, directing the attention to himself. “She once told me that she loves me ‘cause I’m a ‘funny guy’ but when I started roasting her with some jokes, she asked for a break up.”
