Scotland Highlands, 1977
Nightfall, Chilly breeze

It is after dark when we reach Hogwarts.

The train slowed right down and finally stopped. People pushed their way towards the door and out onto a tiny, dark platform. I was trying very hard not to shiver when I finally stepped down.

Then a lamp came bobbing over the heads of the students, "Firs' years! Firs' years over here!"

A half-giant's big hairy face beamed over the sea of heads. I groaned, not another half-giant, if he turns out to be even a bit like Madame Maxime, I was leaving.

"C'mon, follow me — any more firs' years? Mind yer step, now! Firs' years follow me!"

I was not a first year, so I stood there awkwardly while students picked up their luggage and stepped out. A breath whooshed out of me at a familiar face.

"Remus!" I cried.

The sandy-haired boy, walking beside a redheaded girl looked back at me and grinned, whispering something to the girl before jogging over to my side. "'ello there, Elena. Alright?"

"No." I whisper-yelled. "Where do I go? I am going to die like this."

"You won't die like this." He pursed his lips.

"Yes, I will." I gritted out. "I don't think Hogwarts has ever had transfer students. Especially barging in during the sixth year – right after O.W.L.S! Dear Merlin – they're gonna think I'm an imposter and tackle me on the ground, confiscating my wand - "

Remus laughed, shaking his head, "Go with the first years, Elena. You're new, they're new."

I looked back over to where the half-giant was pulling boats out and then towards where the older students were getting seated in carriages. "Can't I go with you?"

He frowned. "I'm afraid not."

I made a sad face, "No?"

He pursed his lips again to resist a laugh. "Nope."

I sighed and backed away a step. "Honestly? I'm kind of scared here."

Remus stared for a moment or two before hesitatingly saying, "Would you like a hug?"

"The thing where you wrap your arms around me?" I asked.

"Oh, that hug?" He gasped.

My eyes lit up and I nodded at once. This time, he didn't bother restraining his chuckle when I embraced him tightly.

I am definitely going to be the first sixteen-year-old to get kidnapped because someone showed me candy and I followed merrily after them. Remus was like the candy man.

But oh, he was so sweet! And adorable, and his eyes were so warm and kind, it made me feel like I'd already made a friend there.

"Will I see you again, Remus?" I ask hopefully.
