The Ministry is packed the next day but fortunately, the little missions we had to go on were mostly spying in nearby areas where there had been supposed Death Eater sightings.

There was no huge problem at hand and Sirius and I were having the best time of our life.

The first to know are James and Lily. We go to visit them over the weekend and she inevitably notices the huge-arse emerald sitting on my hand.

"GIVE ME ALL THE DETAILS!" She whisper-yells when she's pulled me into the kitchen.

Her baby bump is huge now, James says they're going to have a big baby. Possibly even twins for it's only been seven months and she's showing so much.

"There were fireflies around us," I start. "It was so out of the blue, I never could've expected this move."

"He's unpredictable like that," She hums in agreement. "And it was so romantic that he changed the memory of Hawke Manor for you."

"Yes, it was, wasn't it?" I smile widely as I stir the soup. "I —"

"How dare you gals gossip without me?"

I screech when someone comes up behind me and Lily laughs at Marlene's antics. "I thought you and Dorcas were meeting us tomorrow."

"We were," Marlene sniffs the food and makes the 'chef's kiss' gesture. "But then we decided to ambush you lot, guess what we find here?"

"I was going to tell you at the Ministry tomorrow," I say. "It was supposed to be a big reveal but then James and Sirius were meeting today and I thought I might come along."

"Uh-huh?" Marlene looks unconvinced but doesn't stray too long on the topic. "Show me the emerald, oh my gosh!"

I do and she shrieks in low font, "Spoiler? I was going to ask Dorcas to marry me, too but then she found out my surprise." Marlene rolls her eyes as if it was so Dorcas. "We decided to wait until after the war. It's not the time, not for us. Just us, apparently."

I grin, "Sirius and I thought we'd take no chances. It's the best decision I've ever made. Everything is so much more romantic now that I know it's a forever thing."

"Oh, I already know what the bridesmaid dresses should look like," Dorcas barges in. "Alice knows, too, by the way. Though she couldn't attend, Frank was running a fever."

"I —" I start but Marlene cuts me off.

"And the wedding gown is obviously going to be backless."

I am more surprised she knows what I was already planning than anything. "I —"

"Dorcas make sure the dresses for us lot are not pink."

Dorcas has a wild gleam in her eyes and Lily glowers, "NO."

"I think there should be poppies everywhere, those are your favourite flowers, aren't they?" Marlene asks.

I nod, "Yes, but —"

"And Jasmines, Sirius loves the smell of them. James told me he applied heavy Jasmine aroma oil for months in his second year and the entire dorm smelled like it even after years."

"So, that's why!" Dorcas' mouth makes an 'o' shape. "I thought it was because Remus was fruity."

"He was what —"

"He's bi," Marlene interrupts me again. "He didn't tell me but I eavesdropped on Elena and his conversations once."

I grimace, I knew it was a bad idea to have rendezvous in my dorm room. "I think —"
