Haslemere, Surrey, 1980
May 5th, spring bloom

When I wake up, I'm not in Beauxbatons anymore.

James and Alice are by my bedside and they're both hovering over my face like bees.

"What the fuck are you two doing?"

James releases a heavy sigh and nods at Alice before turning back to me, "How do you feel?"

"So far like my throat is as dry as Peter's skin."

Alice pours me a glass of water while James chuckles, "There she is. I thought I nearly lost you. I thought Lily nearly lost me, too because when Sirius would've gotten to know, I wouldn't have been left alive."

I frown, "My head still hurts."

"It will," Says Alice sweetly. "I think you might've gotten a little infection because of all the grime and dust the healers weren't able to clean from your wounds in time. Though I tried my best to heal you, it isn't my forte."

"Healers?" I croak, looking around. "Wait, are we in —"

"St. Mungo's." Admits James. "Everyone has just been alerted, it hasn't been long since we returned. You have been sleeping for a while now, though."

"I take it, it means days?"

"Yep," James popped the P, coming forward to kiss my forehead before getting up. "Lily will stop by in a while, she was one of the healers that healed your deep wounds. Peter visited, too. We haven't heard from Remus, though."

That makes me worry which makes my head hurt. "Calm down," James exclaimed. "He's fine. I talked to Dumbledore who'd been coincidentally at the hospital, too. He said he'd been in contact with Remus recently and everything is alright.'

I nodded, feeling relieved. Moments after James left, the door banged open and Sirius sprinted inside, his shirt and hair damp as if he'd just gotten out of a shower.

"Elena? ELENA?"

"She's here," Alice called. Looking back at me and winking, "Calm your horses."

She leaves and I finally notice her clothes. Her baby bump is far bigger than Lily's for the fifth month.

Sirius shoved open the drapes around my four-poster bed and heaved a heavy breath. "Shit, shit, shit, are you okay?"

"You ran outside naked from the bath before realising you had no clothes on, didn't you?"

He scoffed, "Yes — No, shut up. What the fuck happened?"

"The part of Beauxbatons I was in bombarded and fell on top of me, but I'm fine."

Sirius' face blanched and he fell on his knees beside my bed, "Sirius?" I asked, suddenly concerned. "I'm alright, I promise."

He shook his head, tears welling up in his eyes. "I don't like you speaking so casually about this, El. I just lost my parents here not even four months ago and I'm back, running up the stairs searching for my girlfriend. Afraid she faced the same fate."

My heart broke into a million pieces and I vigorously shook my head, "No, no - no. Sirius, I wouldn't have let anything happen to me for the sole reason that I couldn't leave you behind."

Sirius bit his bottom lip as tears stained his cheeks and without a word, picked me up bridal style. I was still in hospital robes, a white gown reaching my ankles but he paid no mind.

Sneaking past a few Ministry guards, he had us out of the hospital and back home with a smooth apparition.

Surrey had never looked so welcoming as it did now. I didn't hate France, but Merlin knows that place never gave me good memories.
