After the awkward dinner table incident, Jisoo and Haein settled the kids down for the night. Throughout the process, Jisoo remained distant, leaving Haein feeling both irritated and uneasy. Her indifference was palpable, yet he held back from confronting her about it. Once he ensured that their three eldest children were snug in their beds, he promptly retreated to their bedroom.
Inside the master suite, Haein waited for Jisoo to finish her shower. Earlier, she had taken care of the little ones with Aeri's assistance, but now she was enjoying a well-deserved moment of solitude in the bathtub. As the minutes dragged on, Haein's impatience grew. To keep his mind occupied, he settled into bed and turned on the television, trying to distract himself from the lingering tension between them.
After a few minutes of waiting, Haein noticed the bathroom door swing open. His gaze immediately fell on Jisoo as she stepped out, her laced pajama pants swaying gently and her shirt being buttoned up as she made her way to the vanity. A soft sigh escaped his lips when he caught sight of her expressionless face in the mirror, her long black hair cascading over her shoulders as she brushed it.
Gathering his courage, Haein rose from the bed and approached her slowly.
"Hey, baby? I'm really sorry!" he said softly, gently rubbing her arms in an attempt to bridge the distance between them. Jisoo's body tensed at his touch; she was in no mood for conversation or affection, fueled by the simmering anger inside her. Her eyes narrowed with irritation as they met his reflection in the mirror.
"Haein! Just leave me alone! Don't touch me!" Jisoo muttered, trying to distance herself from him. But before she could get far, Haein swiftly grasped her wrist and pulled her back into the chair. Frustration washed over her, and she closed her eyes, trying to compose herself. In one quick motion, Haein turned the chair to face him.
"Jisoo... please! I don't want to argue! I'm exhausted and I just want to sleep without having an upset wife beside me!" he implored, his gaze steady and earnest. Jisoo scoffed, shooting him a piercing look that spoke volumes of her annoyance.
"Tired? Sleep without... an upset wife? Don't make me laugh! Is that all you care about? Because I could easily leave right now and crash with the kids!" Jisoo shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Haein let out a deep sigh and grasped her arms firmly to get her attention.
"No... you know that's not what I mean! Jisoo... love... I just want to sleep in peace! I don't want you to be angry with me anymore! Please... I'm apologizing now so we can both rest easy!" he pleaded, desperately trying to reach her and mend the rift between them. Jisoo let out a cynical chuckle before turning away from him, intent on putting distance between them once more.
"It's always like this! You refuse to see what you're really doing, Haein! It's as if you're constantly dodging the real issue!" Jisoo exclaimed, her eyes wide with frustration as she paced around the room. Haein ran a hand through his hair, feeling the weight of her words.
