Black-rimmed prescription glasses, a couple of red pimples visible on his chubby cheeks, swollen eyelids hiding his small eyes that beamed only at you.
At this moment, you stood awkwardly infront of him while he confessed his one sided love for you. Love, you clearly heard him say he loves you. You thought it was absurd because you didn't even know what love really means.
"I know this is too sudden. You don't have to give me an answer today. I'll wait until tomorrow." Jimin said, holding on to the faintest hope that you'll let him stay by your side.
Park Jimin has been in the same school as you for three years but you never really talked to each other, not that you hated each other, the gap between you two was just too big.
You shared a few classes with him and went to the same dance academy. He was good, actually, one of the best dancers there was in the academy. There's even a rumor that he was accepted as a trainee; to be an idol. He was fearless with his dancing and you admired that aspect of him.
"Jimin, you're a really nice person, talented and very dedicated." You start off gentle to soften the impact on him, "But.. I don't feel the same way.. I hope you understand."
"Oh." His gaze shifted to the floor, "Are you.. seeing someone?"
"No. I'm not dating anyone. I'm really sorry Jimin." You wanted to apologize more but you knew you can't go on apologizing for something that you had no control over.
"It's okay." He tried to smile, "Can you just forget that this happened? I-"
"I understand. If that would make you feel better. I'll forget about this whole thing." You replied and his expression became more melancholic.
Even though you kept your promise to Jimin about not telling anyone about his confession, not even your friends but that summer, the news quickly spread like wildfire among the students of the dance academy you and Jimin were attending. He was teased a lot by his guy friends but he just laughed it all off.
From then on, Jimin always stayed late at the practice room. He spent day after day in that practice room. You began to think that it was because of you that he didn't want to meet anyone anymore. Fortunately, the fire was put out rather quickly and everybody forgot about how Jimin was rejected by you. Although, there were chances where you catch Jimin glance at you or watch you closely as you dance but he never came close to you again.
The rumor was confirmed after a month. Jimin dropped out of the academy and started his training under the company that took him. You barely see him at school anymore and when you see him, he would either be dozing off in class or running out the classroom with a huge practice bag on his shoulder.
"It's true right?" Your friends huddled up next to you when the teacher left to get something.
"What is?" You asked, finishing your notes.
"Park Jimin is debuting in a hiphop group." Your friend, Mimi, looked for the answer at your face.
"I don't know anything about that." You insisted and your friends laughed behind you.
"Don't you regret not dating him?" They probed further, sticking their noses into your business.
"I regret nothing because I really didn't feel the same for him." You've been explaining this to them for the hundredth time already but somehow, they're thinking that you're crushing on Park Jimin.
~
"What time are you getting off?" Mimi called you again at the fitness center you were working at.
