Their little hands were linked together as they walked side by side with their raincoats and rain boots on. She was leading the way since she often boasted that she was four months older than the eight year old boy.

He lived in the same street and they were well known in the area, having been pretty well off than others. Although, the boy was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, rumor has it that before they moved to town his mother won the jackpot on one of those lotto tickets sold near the fish market.

"Are you cold?" She squeaked, straining your voice as she tried to overpower the heavy rain pour. The boy shook his head but he was already shivering, his hand squeezing hers. "On the count of three let's make a run for it, okay?"

The boy nodded while she flashed him a grin, "Ready? One, two, three! Run!!"

They giggled and jumped on every rain puddle until they reached his house. His mother's grimacing face greeted them by the door, "Park Jimin! I was worried sick! Why did you leave the school without permission?"

She let go of his cold hand, hanging her head down, "Sorry, Jimin's mom, it was my fault. I took Jimin home to play with our new puppies."

Jimin's mom released a deep sigh, "Get inside you two and change your clothes." She ushered her to Jimin's room, where she let you change clothes. "Y/N, does your parents know you're here?" She nodded at her. She was Jimin's only family. "Do you want me to call them and tell them to pick you up?"

She nodded again and squeaked a small, "Yes please. Thank you."

"Y/N, eat dinner with us." Jimin held her hand again, she was his first ever friend. "I had fun playing at your house. I wish I could come by again.. But my mom wouldn't let me."

"Why?" Y/N asked.

"Because she said I have a weak body. I get sick easily." Jimin said with a frown on his face. "That's why I can't play with you guys at school."

"Oh." She mimicked his sad expression but being known to be a bright child, Y/N didn't let it ruin the mood, "That's fine! We can still have fun and be friends, right?"

Jimin's eyes lit up, "Really?"

"Mhm!" She nodded her head at him, "I like being friends with you."

Jimin's beamed, his grin made his eyes even smaller to the point of becoming two narrowed slits, "Me too."

Jimin was most happy when he played with her but it wasn't long before his health worsened. His mother didn't allow him to go to school anymore or even have visitors because of his very poor immunity. He was deeply saddened by the news and it made him realize that he wouldn't see his friends again. He wouldn't be able to see Y/N again.

On the day they were moving their stuff, she came by their house and saw him sitting by the doorstep. He had a mask on but she could still tell that he was lonely and sad. She animatedly waved her skinny arms in the air, a wide grin on her face. Jimin removed his mask, revealing a sweet smile as he waved back to her.

"I have a gift for you." Y/N gently placed the box down beside him and opened it, a cute little puppy popped it's nose out. "I'm giving him to you."

Jimin was so happy as he lifted the ball of fur from the box, its small brown nose sniffing him, "Can I really have him?"

Y/N gave him a smile, "As long as you promise to take care of him." Jimin repeatedly nodded his head at that and chuckled when the pup licked his cheek. "Are you really not coming back?" She asked him and he sadly shook his head no. "Don't be sad." She put a hand on his shoulder, "We'll still be friends even if we don't see each other."
