It's lonely at the top.

Being the only daughter of a rich family, you were raised to be elegant. You were taught not to feel any emotion, programmed to be spectacular and brilliant in everything you do but that wasn't you. You never dreamed to be a perfect woman. You didn't ask to be in a wealthy family. Your parents never saw you as a daughter, but a pawn they could utilize in their strategical plans to earn more money. All you wanted was a little taste of life. To know what it's like to actually fall in love and to be loved by that same person,  to have fun with friends who aren't arrogant and conceited like your spoiled friends. You're sick of sipping tea and eating only a spoonful of food during dinner. You wanted escape from this prison.

For once in your life, something good happened to you, something you've never thought you'll experience, you fell in love. It was the most wonderful feeling in the world. No money or jewelries your parents gave you can ever compare to it. You met Yoongi in one of your music class. He was studying composing while you studied the piano. Yoongi is a great person. He understood you, your dreams and your passion. He knew you were one of the elites in the school but he didn't care. Usually, average guys would scamper away from you because they were afraid to mess with the stereotypes of the rich kids. Yoongi was the only person who didn't give a fuck about elites and average people, and that's what you liked about him.

You and Yoongi started to date secretly. You learned to sneak out late in the night despite the tight security in the mansion but you had a little help from the maids. They covered for you most of the time. You'd meet Yoongi at the school's empty auditorium and you'd talk about your day. He took you out to places you've never been before. He made you experience things that you've never done before. He taught you how to play street basketball and made you eat home cooked food. You treasured all the little things you did with him. Yoongi gave you the life you've always dreamed of. He became your escape but that was only for a moment, you knew that you had to come back to your real life.

"Darling, we will have a family dinner with the Parks tomorrow." Your mother announced during supper, "Be sure to clear out your schedule. We don't want to have problems."

"A family dinner?" You questioned, "Why?"

Your mother looked at you, "We're going to talk about your engagement with their son, Jimin. He's such a gentleman, right honey?"

You halted and gracefully placed your spoon down the table, "I don't want to get married."

"Darling, why? He's been your bestfriend ever since you can walk. You've been together for the longest time." Your mother said in her shrilly, annoying voice.

"Jimin is my bestfriend. I do love him but only as a friend." You countered. "I'm not getting married for business."

"You will get married to Park Jimin." Your father spoke and you threw a glare at him. "You will not disobey me, y/n. I have given you everything. Now it's your turn to pay me back."

"You have given me everything?" You replied rebelliously, "All you did was imprison me in this mansion! I didn't even want this luxury!"

"Honey, calm down." Your mother was behind your angered father in an instant, whispering in his ear, "Y/N, you go ahead to your room."

Frustrated, you locked yourself in your room. How else can you escape your fate? Sooner or later, you'll have to tell Yoongi about your engagement with Jimin. You knew it would break his heart and also yours, to see him hurting because of you. You stared at your phone, hesitating if you should call your boyfriend or not. An unknown fear suddenly rose in your chest.

You were shaken out of your thoughts when a knock came on your door, "Y/n, I'm coming in." Your mother said. She was already in her night gown, covered by a shiny, silk robe, "Darling, you made a really risky move during dinner. You've made your father very upset."

"I'm not letting you choose who I love." You stubbornly answered.

"You have no choice, Y/N." You noticed the drastic change in your mother's tone of voice. She wasn't cheerful anymore but melancholic, her eyes were blank and her mouth was in a tight straight line, "You think I don't understand? I didn't have a choice either when I married your father. I never loved him, even until now but look at me, look at you. We have a good life, we have everything.. This is for your own good, Y/N."

You began to cry, "But I'm in love with someone else.." Hot tears streaked down your cheeks. Your heart was in pain, torn between love and your family.

"You'll have to break up with him." Your mother replied in a monotonous voice, "You're father is a very powerful man. You know that. He'll eliminate anyone who stands in his way, even if it results to violence. So if you really love that man you're seeing, you'll let him go."

~

Yoongi sported his usual look; washed out, denim ripped pants, a plain white shirt under a red and black checkered long sleeves. He was smiling and it made everything harder for you, you didn't want to do this but you had to go through with it. For his sake.

"Hey." Yoongi kissed your forehead, "Sorry, I was late, I had to drop my little sister by the store."

"It's okay." You smiled weakly, "How's your mom?"

"She's still in the hospital. The doctor told us that she needed a transplant sooner but I don't have the money yet.." His gaze drifted to the ground, "Maybe I should quit school and just work somewhere."

"I'm sorry. I'm making a fool out of myself, aren't I?" He chuckled lightly, "I shouldn't be telling you this and make you feel obliged to help me. I don't want you to feel sorry for me. I wanna look cool and dependable in my girlfriend's eyes but sometimes.. I just can't help it." He added.

"Don't quit school." You held his hand and squeezed it firmly, "I know it's hard but everything will be okay. You have to be strong, okay?" Your eyes started to get blurry as your tears began to well up.

"Something wrong?" He caressed your cheek gently.

"It's nothing." You felt despicable as you tell him a lie.

"I know it's not nothing." He lifted your chin up, making you look in his eyes, "You can tell me everything.. I'm here for you."

"You can't help me, Yoongi, not on this one." You told him as a tear fell on your cheek.

You saw your reflection in his eyes, a monster. Voices were screaming in your head, tell him! tell him! You pulled away from Yoongi, in conflict with yourself, you weren't aware of what you did. He was surprised for a moment, but his expression softened as he began to walk towards you.

"No. Don't come closer." You tell him.

"Y/N. Just tell me what's going on.. Please." His eyes searching for the reason you couldn't provide. you're name on his lips was the most painful blow to your heart. It pierced through your flesh.

"I can't do this anymore, Yoongi. This.. us. We don't belong with each other. We both know that this relationship has nowhere to go. I'm so sorry but this is the end for us. I can't love you anymore." You turn your back to him and walked away so he wouldn't see you break down amd crumble to pieces.

"You're lying, right?" Yoongi caught up with you, he wrapped his arms around your waist, "Why? Did I do something wrong? I'm sorry, for whatever mistake I did. If I made you upset, I'm sorry, just don't break up with me, y/n." You tried to pry his arms off of you but his grip tightened even more, "I can't lose you. I love you.. Please, don't do this."
