As it was about to get dark, Johari, fully prepared to go down to the Hell of the Caribbean, went to the shack to wake Jack and begin the not-so-long journey to the Gates of Hell.
Johari: Sparrow... wake up.
Jack: (Still half asleep) Five more minutes, please.
Johari: Jack, I prepared everything to go through the Gates of Hell.
Jack: (Wakes up instantly) Apple Pie!
Johari: It's an option. There is a chance we'll see your Apple Pie.
Jack: Do you have something to drink? I have dry lips.
Johari: (Offers him a canteen) Want some?
Jack: (Receives the canteen) Is it what I think it is?
Johari: Why don't you try it by yourself?
Jack: (Takes a sip from the canteen) Rum. Sweet and fresh rum. Where did you take it from?
Johari: I prefer to keep the secret. (•••) What if we better go where we should go?
Jack: (Looks through the window while taking another sip of rum) But it's getting dark.
Johari: That's the point. It's going to be easier to get there. There are elements of that place that can only be seen in the dark.
Jack: So let's find the crew and go.
Johari: Wait a bit, Jack. I prefer that we go just you and me.
Jack: Just you and me? Don't think you're going to achieve anything special on this journey with me. You know that I'm completely in love with Ruby and that in these two years that have passed since her... I'm not going to say death, I haven't stopped thinking about her at any time.
Johari: You are misunderstanding me, Sparrow. I would never be with you.
Jack: Are you saying that I am a despicable person?
Johari: I'm not saying that. It's just that you're not my type. Besides, I would never betray my captain. And not only captain. She was also a very good friend.
Jack: (Correcting) Is! She is a very good person. She still is. She's still alive.
Johari: (Calmly) She is.
Jack: Then why don't you want the crew to go?
Johari: Because of this. (Takes out the small wooden box with blue pills from a leather bag)
Jack: And that is...?
Johari: (Closing and putting away the box) When we arrive you will know.
Jack: Okay. But, you know how to get there, don't you?
Johari: Well... The last time I went there...
Jack: (Interrupting) You already went there?!
Johari: Are you going to let me speak? Do you want to try to get Ruby back?
Jack: Yes. Of course I want.
Johari: Then I go on.
Jack: (Nods)
Johari: I met Ruby when Calypso was freed. She had just got the Lotus Flower and she wanted to try her new ship. Ruby was looking for a map and I, knowing this place for a long time, helped her.
Jack: And where is that map?
Johari: Do you see that bookshelf behind you?
Jack: (Turns to see the bookshelf and nods)
Johari: Many of those books contain maps or parts of maps of different places in the Caribbean.
Jack: But we need a map to guide us to the Gates of Hell.
Johari: Help me bring those books to this table.Jack and Johari began to carry all the books from the shelf to the table. Jack, thinking that the map would be inside some book, began to leaf through and search page by page, while Johari put them in a specific position to form the map that she had already managed to form years before.
Jack: (Leafing through a book) I don't find anything. I don't find the map.
Johari: (Takes away the book from him) Stop looking. (Closes the book) I already found it. (Places the book on the table finishing the last missing corner of the map)
Jack: (Surprised seeing the map made up of books) How... did you do that?
Johari: I didn't do it. It was done. It just had to be ordered.
Jack the monkey: (Arrives eating a fruit and stands on top of the map right where the Voodoo Shack was located in the Pantano River)
Johari: I don't know if it's easy to understand, but it's a map of this island.
Jack: Yeah! I get it! And Jack just stood right on top of this shack!
Johari: Just as the first time. I had never seen an animal as intelligent as this monkey.
Jack: (Grabs the monkey and puts it in a corner of the table to see the map well)
Jack the monkey: (Climbs onto Jack Sparrow's shoulder)
Jack: I understand that this is a map of this island, but I cannot see the way to the Gates of Hell.
Johari: The time I went with Ruby, we went on the Lotus Flower, so we had to enter through the Port of Hell, which is located right there. (Points to a part of the map behind the volcano of the island) But now we don't have the resources to carry a full crew. Besides, we can't cross that entrance without the presence of a God of the Underworld. So we are forced to go through the Gates of Hell... (Tracing an invisible path with her finger on the map) ...Which are upriver in a fairly leafy area.
Jack: Yeah, but what is the exact path? You must know that one wrong step could lead us straight to death... Thing that would take us to our destination but with no possibility of coming back.
Johari: I know that pretty well.
Jack: That time you went with my Apple Pie, did you use this same map?
Johari: Yep
Jack: And how did you find out the way?
Johari: Well, that time, Ruby lit a small flame of fire right in the area of the map where we were.
Jack: On the Voodoo Shack?
Johari: (Nods)
Jack the monkey: (Jumps back onto the map)
Jack: Where Jack is standing?
Johari: (Nods)
Jack: Then what are we waiting for? This shack is full of candles. We can light one and with it we set fire to the map.
Johari: Two things you can never forget being in this shack. Do not forget that this is a voodoo shack. More than a ninety percent of the objects inside this shack have dark and mysterious properties. And the candles are clearly not an exception.
Jack: And what's the other thing?
Johari: We're talking about Ruby... The Goddess Flame...
Jack: My Apple Pie...
Johari: ...Your Apple Pie. She's a goddess. She has power, abilities, a great gift given by nature. The fire she generates isn't just simple fire. It's a lot more than just that. It is almost like magic. If we set fire to the map with any source of fire we not only risk burning all books. Books that, in addition to forming a map, have valuable information on their pages. But we also risk burning the entire shack and even the forest if it gets out of hand. Is that what you want?
Jack: (Shaking his head) No, I don't want that.
Johari: Alright. It's okay that you are a pirate, a maritime criminal, but everything has its limits.
Jack: Okay. I get it. But then how are we going to find the exact route to those doors.
Johari: You'll see. Ruby invited me to be part of her crew the first day we met. I accepted but obviously with a lot of fear.
Jack: But you knew she was Flame, didn't you?
Johari: Yes. I approached to her. I needed to know that the inhabitants of this island were in the care of good hands after what we believed to be the death of Tia Dalma.
Jack: Then why where you scared?
Johari: I wasn't afraid of going with a goddess of death. I was afraid to get on a ship.
Jack: A ship? Really?! Afraid of a ship?!
Johari: (Remembering her past) Don't judge a book by its cover, Jack. The last time I had gotten on a ship, or rather they had put me on a ship, I was practically a child, and against my will they took me to some sugar plantations. They were really big. Or at least that's how a saw them at my young age.
Jack: I'm still waiting to get to the part where you say the reason why you started to be afraid of ships.
Johari: On those plantations they forced me to work. It was more work than rest. And all in exchange of nothing.
Jack: In exchange of nothing?!
Johari: Well yeah. In exchange of beatings and mistreatment mainly by the owner of those plantations.
Jack: They treated you like a slave.
Johari: I didn't want to get to that word, but yes. That's exactly what I was. A slave. After a few years working there, I managed to run away with a cousin, and from that day on I promised myself never to get on a boat again.
Jack: I see you couldn't keep your promise.
Johari: Ruby made me see that it was the only way to mobilize so that one day I could be reunited with my family.
Jack: Oh, that's what you want the most. Don't you? To reunite with your family?
Johari: (Nods) I trusted in Flame just because she was a goddess. But I was still afraid that it was all a hoax and they would take me back to work as a slave. So when I saw this map with the routes generated with the fire of Flame, I memorized each stroke on the book covers and already on board the Lotus Flower I took all those images to a smaller piece of paper.
Jack: Are you good with maps?
Johari: I don't know. You tell me.Johari took from her leather bag, the small map of the island that she had gone to look for on the Lotus Flower. Jack picked up the map and compared it to the large map on the table.
Jack: (Comparing both maps) They match perfectly.
Johari: (Surprised by the perfection of her strokes) I hadn't seen the two maps together. I never thought it would be so precise.
Jack: And I guess these red lines... (Pointing to the map in his hands) ...are the roads to both entrances to the Hell of the Caribbean? Because here... (Points to the volcano drawn on the map) ...you told me it was the Port of Hell.
Johari: You're right.
Jack: Then just in this place... (Points to the end of the red line that goes upriver) ...are located the Gates of Hell.
Johari: I also think the same.
Jack: Is there anything else that we're missing?
Johari: Willpower and energy to walk upriver.
Jack the monkey: (Jumps onto Jack's shoulder)
Jack: Then what are we waiting for?!
Johari: (Takes a sip from a canteen that hangs from her neck) Let's go then. (Throws another canteen at Jack)
Jack the monkey: (Grabs the canteen and hangs it on Jack's neck)
Jack: (Takes a sip from the canteen) Let's go.=========================
