Chapter XXXVIII

As Jack escaped by standing on top of the carriages, Ruby flew after him in her phoenix form. Of course no one could do anything with her as she was a ball of fire flying through the air.

At one point, Jack got into a carriage carrying coal and took control of it. Seeing him, two of the guards who were following him shot and set the coal on fire.

As Jack continued to advance, the ashes fell to the ground and the fire spread. Not happy with that, Ruby, while she was still flying, she spread the fire even more so they could escape more easily.

Seeing that there was no other escape, Jack hung on to a sign, which coincidentally was the sign of the pub Gibbs had named earlier. The Captain's Daughter.

To get Jack to get down and stop hanging, Ruby burnt the sign. The goddess then went back to her human form.

Just as Jack fell to the ground, a guard appeared from behind the pirate, and just as he was about to fire, the guard was hit by a fireball from Ruby, knocking him to the ground, then from behind, the guard was hit by a shot and from inside the pub, Edward Teague appeared with the pistol with which he had killed the guard.

Guard: Filthy pirate. (Prepares to shot)
Ruby: (Throws him a fireball)
Guard: (Falls to the ground and gets shot)
Jack: (Turns confused when seeing the guard)
Teague: (Appears from the entrance of the pub)

After seeing Jack and Ruby, Teague started a conversation with his son and his son's partner.

Teague: Hello, Jackie.
Jack: Hello, Dad.
Teague: (Greeting Ruby) Ruby.
Ruby: Edward Teague.
Teague: You can call me Teague.
Ruby: (Nods smiling)

《Inside the pub》

Teague: (To Jack) I heard you're putting together a crew.
Jack: If enough people keep saying it, it must be true.
Ruby: It's just an impostor.
Teague: I heard where you're headed. The Fountain.
Ruby: Have you been there?
Teague: Does this face look like it's been to the Fountain of Youth?
Jack: Depends on the light.
Teague: Son, the Fountain. There'll be items required for the profane ritual. Two chalices.
Jack: On the map there was a chalice.
Teague: Two, silver. From the Ponce de Leon ship.
Ruby: Silver?!
Teague: (Nods)

uby: I don't want more silver in my life! (Hits the table and drinks a sip of rum) No more of that infernal mineral!

Teague: Why so much hatred towards silver, Ruby?

ack: Silver blocks her power, it doesn't allow her to generate fire.
Ruby: It's basically the only thing that can kill me.
Teague: It's ok. These chalices are not going to make you any damage. But don't forget, Jackie. You'll need both.
Jack: For?
Teague: The ritual.
Ruby: Don't be a fool, Jackie.
Teague: Find out every detail before you set sail.
Jack: Oh, set sail. Love to. But for that, we may need a ship.
Teague: (Sees a group of people singing) Those folk, over there, they have a ship. They're signing up sailors now.
Jack & Ruby: (Turn to see the group of people singing)
Teague: And one last thing, Jackie. The Fountain will test you. Mark my words.
