Chapter XV

《In the ritual of the pelegostos》
The Indians were about to cook Jack alive. One of them waalready with a torch about to light the fire that would cook the pirate, but just arrived the young native who had seen the crew trying to escape from the floating cages. Jack told them to go look for them and when they ran away, the one with the torch threw it near the firewood causing the wind to push the ashes and they began to light the firewood where Jack was.

Jack: Oh no. How I wish Ruby were here with me to help put out this fire and also untie me.

《In the cage》
The pirates had been climbing to the top.

Will: Cut the rope! Look for a rock!
Ruby: The rock isn't necessary. I can do it faster and easily. Excuse me!

Ruby approached the rope that hung the cage, and when she touched it, she burned it very quickly to escape.

Ruby had planned to burn all the ties in the cage, but just before she started, they saw the pelegostos approaching.

Will: Roll the cage!
Ruby: Push it!

The pirates began to roll the cage down a slope where they lost control of the cage. When they stopped rolling, they had to lift the cage to run away.

Will: Lift the cage! Now!
Gibbs: You heard! Like a lady's dress!
Ruby: Run!

The pirates continued running until they fell into a semi-subterranean river where the cage was finally broken. While they swam, the pelegostos shot arrows, but luckily none reached anyone.

Ruby: No water! Not now please!
Marty: We will have to swim!
Gibbs: Useful would be the five pieces of sapphire at times like this! (To Ruby) You could use your power under water!
Ruby: But is not the case! Now cover yourself!

The pirates tried to hide to avoid being hit by arrows, but just when the natives were about to shoot all at once, the same young man from before appeared, warning that Jack was running away. Then they all ran to find the supposed god, thus leaving the crew free to escape. It was there that everyone started running to the boat and found that Pintel and Ragetti had prepared the boat and it was ready to sail.

Pintel and Ragetti had been trying to take the Black Pearl by themselves, but while Pintel tried to give orders to Ragetti, he did not obey as he tried to catch the monkey Jack who had taken his wooden eye. All these events gave the other crew members time to reach the ship safely.

Pintel: Let go of the ropes! The ropes!
Ragetti: (While chasing Jack the monkey) Hey! Come here, hairball! Give it to me!
Jack the Monkey: (Starts to bite the eye)
Ragetti: Do not bite it!
Pintel: (From out of the ship) Let go of the ropes!
Ragetti: (He looks over the side watching the pirates) He has my eye. He does not return it to me.
Pintel: How did you steal it last time?
Gibbs: Excellent! You did half the job!
Pintel: We did it for you. We knew you would come back.
Gibbs: Guys! Let's set sail!
Will: Jack is still missing! I'm not going without him!
