Barbossa felt more and more sure about knowing the woman who was now in control of the helm.

The now captain of the ship, moved away from Carina, while he saw the stars, saddened by the bad treatment he received from whom he was already sure was his daughter, whom he had left at the door of a children's home, with a diary and a name, years ago.

When Barbossa opened the compass that points to what its bearer most desires, by pointing at Carina, Barbossa was able to confirm that the woman who now steered the ship was his daughter, whom he had just understood that he had abandoned years ago at the door of a children's home.

Ruby: (After listening to Barbossa approaches him noticing his sadness) Hector!
Barbossa: Whatever you're going to tell me, I'm not in the mood.
Ruby: You know that girl.
Barbossa: Carina. Her name is Carina.
Ruby: I know. Where do you know her from? Why did you end like that after talking with her?
Barbossa: Do you know her past?
Ruby: Well. Not that much. But I know she grew in a children's home.
Barbossa: And I feel bad about that.
Ruby: Why do you suddenly feel bad about a person you've just met?
Barbossa: I haven't just met her. I met her years ago.
Ruby: Years? How many years ago?
Barbossa: I left her a ruby so she could make a living out of it and perhaps buy herself luxuries with such a precious gem, but instead she kept it and ended up leading it to me.
Ruby: (Surprised) She's your daughter?! Carina Smyth is your daughter?!
Barbossa: Lower your voice, will you?!
Jack: (After hearing part of the conversation between Hector and Ruby) Smyth! Smyth is quite an unusual name.
Barbossa: (Aproaches Jack with Ruby following him)
Jack: Did we not once... know someone called Smyth?
Barbossa: (Next to Jack) Shut your trap.
Jack: What was her name? It's right on the tip of me tongue.
Barbossa: (Threatenes him with his sword) Do you wanna lose that tongue?
Ruby: (Trying to calm Barbossa's anger) Hey!
Jack: Margaret Smyth. (Chuckles) Aye. Should we make an accord then? Or shall I tell you-know-who what we both... or it seems three... know to be true?
Barbossa: We three take this secret to our graves.
Jack: You mean, it is true? I was bluffing.
Barbossa: I'm not.
Jack: You kill me, you got nothing to bargain the dead with. So you need me.
Ruby: (Nods confirming Jack's words)
Barbossa: (Puts down his sword)
Jack: I'll have to be frank, Hector. You are very, very ugly. So how could you produce a fetching creature such as that?
Barbossa: Margaret died. I summoned as much honor as a worthless blaggard ever could. I placed the infant in an orphanage... never to see her again. I thought the ruby afford her some ease in life... but I never imagined she'd take those scribbling... and make a life of her own. A life that's led her back to me.
Ruby: Hector, what happened is natural. I know how it feels not to know your own story. At the beginning, when I had my powers of fire, I felt that it was a curse to me. But when I heard about the existence of a goddess with my powers, I decided to investigate where they came from. Tia Dalma convinced me to enter through the Gates of Hell. I didn't even doubt about it. I wanted to know where I came from.
Barbossa: (Understanding Ruby's point) So Carina used that ruby to know from where and from who she came.
Ruby: (Nods)
Jack the monkey: (Climbs back to Ruby's shoulder)
Jack: I'd say this puts me in a rather favorable position, Daddy.
Barbossa: (Approaches Jack intimidatingly) You tell me what you want.
Jack: I want me compass. 216 barrels of rum. And the monkey.
Jack the money: (Squeals)
Ruby: (Confused) You want Jack?
Jack: Dinner. I want to eat him, I want to eat that monkey...
Jack the monkey: (Stuffs a handkerchief into Jack's mouth so he can't keep talking)
Ruby: If the monkey suffers there's no deal, Jack.
Barbossa: A clever young woman such as that would never believe... that a swine like me could ever be her blood. (Turns his back at Jack)
Jack: (Tries to say something with the handkerchief in his mouth)
Barbossa: And the Trident will be mine.
Jack: (Tries to speak with the handkerchief in his mouth)
Ruby: (Burns the handkerchief inside Jack's mouth)
Jack: Hey! You could have burned me!
Ruby: But I didn't.
Jack: Be thankful that I love you, Apple Pie. 'Cause if it wasn't like that I would already be planning my revenge.
Ruby: (Smiles) You're welcome. (Starts following Barbossa)
Jack: Where are you going?
Ruby: To help Hector.
Jack: Aren't you going to burn the ropes that bind me to this mast, too?
Ruby: I'm no captain here, Jack. I will untie you when it's really necessary. (Walks into Barbossa's side)
Jack: Princess, wait!
Ruby: (Ignores Jack)
Jack: Apple Pie! (Noticing that Ruby is still Ignoring him) Ruby Evans! Come here!
Ruby: (Still ignoring Jack, gets into Barbossa's side)
Barbossa: Your prince is calling you. Why do you ignore him?
Ruby: He wants me to untie him.
Barbossa: And why don't you do it?
Ruby: You ordered your men to tie him up. I can't act against the captain's words.
