Tips 21-40, I am not looking forward to editing this. But whatever.
21) If the only black woman in your cast barely gets any screen time except to be fetishized OR fits rule 20, you're a huge turd.
Benzoate: How...oddly specific. I'm starting to think that you're projecting about what you really think about the minorities that you discuss here via these "writing tips". You do realize that being a brute has nothing to do with one's race right? Furthermore, what would you think if a non-minority was fetishized instead? I'd like to hear your answers.
22) If the only trans woman in your cast a Drag Queen in all but name, you're a huge turd.
Benzoate: But aren't drag queens all about putting on a persona for guys to be able to express themselves in their own (and usually feminine) way? This is the equivalent of saying all drag queens are transgender women when that's not the case. Even if the only trans woman in the cast resembles a drag queen, I wouldn't really care as long as she has something to offer to the table that is the storyline.
Bruno: I have a friend Who is a drag and she is not transgender, but cis female. She Just likes to dress in a Very extravagant way.
23) If you force a woman to kiss her abuser, you're a huge turd.
NekoShogun: You could probably use that to Show why the person is abusive. Could work. Probably too dark for me personally, but I don't see why it can't.
Benzoate: You know how many pieces of media have disclaimers going along the lines of "This is a work of fiction. Any depictions shown in this literature does not necessarily align with the author's views"? You can write an abuse scene as long as the abuser is not seen in a positive light during said scene.
Bruno: I think Lily is watching too much series.
24) If you sideline every non-white character in your cast to focus on a white boy with anger issues and a tendency toward hostility getting a redemption arc, you're a huge turd.
Rin: Okay, stop for a moment. I know you're talking about Zuko. He is not white, he is Japanese. The fire nation is basically imperial Japan.
Cheetah: ...I can't tell if she's talking about Zuko from ATLA or Hunter from The Owl House, but either way, this is BS and Lily needs to improve her range of insults. "Huge turd" is about the middle school level, and even then that's an insult to middle schoolers by associating them with Lily.
Hibiki: I cannot believe it. I. Cannot. Believe. This. GOOGLE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND, FOR ONE. For two? He's not white. He was never white. So focusing on him getting better is fine. Why don't you want him to get better, Lily? Hm?
Bruno: Maybe because she doesnt see redemption in anyone, only on Female Characters like Reva.
Stestir: Okay, first off, why specifically "White boy with anger issues". If it's a black boy it would be suddenly okay??? Sounds pretty personal for me, but nonetheless, let's continue. Second of all, why is focusing on characters redemption arc bad and makes you a bad person??? Like, you SHOULD focus on characters redemption arc as it's kinda important to show a characters growth?? Hell, this tip is biased AND wrong.
25) Justifying horny armor designs or horny clothing designs with "Sexual Agency" makes you a huge turd. Characters don't have sexual agency, you made them that way as a justification. See Rule 10.
NekoShogun: Writing aside, it's surprising how many things you'd think are impractical would be fine, and realistic. There is precedent for boob armor. You can thank steelwork and the codpiece for that.
NekoShogun(again): Went back to see what Sexual agency is. Narratively they would. Probably not a bad idea to consider what a character is okay with, or their preferences. Literally? They wouldn't. I also wouldn't bother asking pen & paper for consent.
