Bel's life seemed to fall into place for a while.

Each week that passed had the same structure to it.

Every day she went to her classes.

Each one that required her to use her wand resulted in her quickly succeeding, placing her at the top of the class.

In classes that didn't involve her wand, she was still able to keep up, but it wasn't easy.

Ollie had taken a liking to potions, very surprisingly considering his paralyzing fear of Professor Snape, and Riley was keen on Herbology.

Bel initially believed that her favourite class would have been Defence Against the Dark Arts.

However, it became one of her least favourites for two reasons.

Firstly, the topics and spells that they were being taught were well below her skill level.

In combination with her continued lessons with Dumbledore twice a week, turning up to learn about the Verdimillious charm became tedious.

Secondly, the teacher gave her an odd feeling.

Professor Quirrell had been the teacher Bel had run into after receiving her first mysterious note.

He was a strange individual, and Bel always felt as though he was watching her. But whenever she would look at him, his eyes would quickly shift and land on Harry.

But Bel wasn't one to judge without cause, and Professor Quirrell was simply a strange man in a strange world, so she thought nothing more of it.

Within Dumbledore's lessons, Bel had found that they weren't all going to go as smoothly as her first one.

Over the passing weeks, she had set fire to half of his office, blown up a few things, flooded it once or twice and even sent Professor Dumbledore himself flying across the room.

With each failure, she would get more and more agitated which would only result in more failures as she was unable to focus.

One of the only positive things that had come out of the lessons was a new friend of hers. A phoenix called Fawkes.

Each time Bel had a lesson, she would arrive early to spend some time gently petting the beautiful bird who had taken a quick liking to her. However, it would leave the room whenever she practiced her magic for fear of getting hurt.

Bel couldn't blame Fawkes. She was terrified that she would hurt him or someone else outside of the classroom.

It had almost happened once when Draco Malfoy decided it would be funny to trip her up in the hallway.

Technically, it wasn't meant to be her, but Harry instead. However, when they walked around the corner of the stone hallway, Malfoy accidentally tripped up the Hufflepuff girl.

Her anger seemed to manifest itself as she kept thinking about how satisfying it would be to light his hair on fire.

Fortunately for her (and Malfoy) her aim and accuracy was still being ironed out, and so the thing that set on fire was Crabbe's hair.

It was played off as the fact that he had been standing too close to the lit stone pilar, but Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Bel knew the real reason and laughed about it endlessly.
