I do not own Harry Potter ... but the way Harry was shoved against that wall did something to him (we could all tell)

__________<>__________

"Harry?"

Bel had been anxiously trying to awaken Harry for the past thirty minutes.

She had been dragged kicking and screaming all the way back to the castle where Dumbledore had been woken and sent to deal with the issue at hand.

Bel wasn't used to sitting on the side lines during such times.

And it aggravated her.

Especially since it involved the lives of people she cared about most.

Nothing Hermione or Ron said to her calmed her nerves as the three all waited in the hospital wing.

Madam Pomfrey had attended to Ron's bite wound, Hermione sitting directly to his side the entire time, whilst Bel had paced back and forth just by the door, listening for even the faintest of movement from the other side.

When she did finally hear something, it was some of the staff carrying an unconscious Harry into the wing.

Bel froze when she saw him, the memories of first year coming back into her mind.

She even glanced over to Hermione and Ron to remind herself that she wasn't fully living one of her worst nightmares.

But she was, in a way.

Dumbledore had been among the staff members who bought Harry in, helping to lie him down on one of the hospital beds.

He had explained to Madam Pomfrey that he would be fine and would wake soon.

Bel had been the one to push for more answers.

And the ones she received almost made her pass out.

Harry and Sirius had been attacked by dementors.

Somehow, they were both alive.

Sirius Black was currently being dealt with, his fate unwritten despite what the three friends had been trying to tell everyone.

And, most obviously, Harry was currently passed out in the hospital wing.

Bel felt that same feeling that everyone, including her, loathed.

Guilt.

Terrible, unwavering, all-consuming guilt.

It overtook her, suffocating her, almost as if it were a snake wrapped around her, squeezing her until she couldn't take anymore.

She hadn't been there when she needed to be.

That entire year, even before school had started, Bel had been training to prevent this exact outcome.

To keep her friends safe.

To keep Harry away from Sirius Black and the dementors.

To live up to those titles she wished to honour.

A protector.

A blessed saviour.

But it was all for nothing.

All of her practice, all of her struggles, all of those hours spent in relentless training.

All of it went to waste.

And she blamed herself.

Maybe she could have hexed Snape to let her go. Then she could have followed after Harry and stopped him and Sirius from getting to this point.
