Madam Pomfrey had instructed Bel to stay in bed until Christmas break started.
It meant that everyone had to come to the hospital wing to bid her goodbye.
It also meant that she couldn't give everyone their gifts.
Luckily, Gus would come in handy there.
It was a shame considering that, since last Christmas where Bel hadn't gotten anyone a gift at all, she had been planning it all out for the entire year.
She really wanted to make up for the fact that she hadn't returned the gift giving process of Christmas to her friends.
She would have if she had known anyone was going to get her a gift at the time.
This year she had procured a muggle guitar for Ollie as he loved musical instruments, a new set of beater bats for Tia, a variety of mystery seeds for Riley, a set of books she had swiped from Dumbledore's office for Hermione, a few packets of Ron's favourite sweets for him, and little DIY ICCCC badges for Fred and George.
She was giving Cedric back his quidditch jumper as his gift considering she had now made the team and so wouldn't need his anymore.
As for Harry Potter, she had been stumped.
That was until she had read about a certain Gryffindor artefact in one of the books in Dumbledore's personal library.
It was called the sword of Gryffindor.
The legend foretold that only a true Gryffindor would be presented with the sword.
Bel knew that Harry had been struggling against the rumours that he was the heir of Slytherin.
It didn't matter how many times she, Hermione, and Ron all tried to make him forget about it, it had clearly gotten in his head and set up camp there.
And so, Bel had decided to carve a small piece of wood into a miniature sword of Gryffindor that would fit in the palm of your hand.
There was a note she had written to go along with it, too.
Bel had kept all of her gifts perfectly wrapped under her bed, waiting for the day where she could give them to her friends and hopefully see them smile.
It had been a complicated year so far, and a smile was just what they all needed.
But it would have to wait.
For now, Bel was finally discharged from the hospital wing with strict instructions to take it easy from Madam Pomfrey and was on her way to the Great Hall for dinner.
It was decorated with a snowing sky and lit Christmas trees all around.
The feeling Bel had for Christmas now was very different to how she felt a year ago.
Since last year, she thoroughly looked forward to it, especially when she had her friends staying at Hogwarts with her.
It had been lonely during summer.
So lonely that she would even go so far to admit that staying at Malfoy Manor was something of a relief at times.
But Christmas was different.
No school, just her and some of her closest friends.
As she entered, she saw both Harry and Ron sat further away from some other students on the Gryffindor table.
