Ron let out a small gasp just as the sobs of Bel and Hermione died out.

"He bit me!" Ron exclaimed.

Bel lifted her head from Harry's shoulder, turning her body to face the boy who now had a drop of blood present on his finger.

"Scabbers?" Ron then said as he turned around, his eyes scanning the ground for any sight of his rat.

Clearly he spotted it, as Ron broke off into a sprint further up the hill.

"Ron? Ron!" Hermione called out.

Before he could rush out of their sight, the other three all started to run after him.

"Ron!" Harry called out from behind Bel.

"Slow down!" Bel shouted.

"Scabbers, come back!" she heard Ron yell in the distance.

They were far from Hagrid's hut now, and had been running for a few minutes over the grassy hilltops.

"Ron, wait!" Harry tried yelling as Ron increased the distance between them.

Soon they emerged over yet another small hilltop, and Harry came to an abrupt stop.

His left arm flung out to stop Bel in her tracks, keeping her behind him.

Hermione also came to a stop on his right.

Bel saw Ron dive onto the floor, picking up his rat and saying, "Scabbers! You bit me!"

But just as there had been no time for Bel to dwell on Buckbeak's recently carried out fate, there was no time for her to dwell on Ron's antics.

Relief turned into panic as Hermione said, "Guys, you do realize what tree this is?"

Bel hadn't even noticed it, but Ron was currently lying directly at the foot of the Whomping Willow.

She had only had one experience last year with the horrid tree, and it almost got herself, Harry, and Ron all killed.

Clearly, Harry was remembering the exact same memory, as he muttered, "That's not good."

"Ron, run!" Bel screamed.

Her yells caught his attention, but when he looked up to them, fear was painted all over his face as he pointed just past their shoulders.

"Bel, Harry, Hermione, run!" he shouted at them.

The group of three all turned around to lay eyes on a massive black dog.

Bel thought she recognized it at first, but she had only come across one black dog that year.

It was almost human-like, kind and gentle.

This dog was different.

It had its teeth bared, eyes dark and dangerous, as it growled lowly at them.

"It's the Grim!" Ron yelled from behind them.

Before Bel could even move, the dog let out a loud bark, running straight for them.

However, it didn't even touch the three, instead jumping right over Harry and Bel's heads, continuing on its path to Ron.

Bel was frozen in fear as the dog latched onto Ron's ankle and started dragging him by its teeth closer to the tree.
