38. Human Decency

"What are you planning on doing?"

Harry asked Bel about her plan as the two best friends approached the school from Hagrid's hut.

Honestly, she had no idea.

Right now, she was almost blinded by rage.

She could only see the pain in Hermione's eyes in her mind.

"I don't know. Make Malfoy finally pay for the way he's been behaving over the last year ... somehow", Bel replied.

"I don't think there's a punishment large enough", Harry muttered.

"I'll find one", Bel said with certainty.

Harry was slightly taken aback by Bel's change in attitude since they got back to school.

She was more prone to fighting back.

Bel had been reserved last year. She kept things to herself, including her anger.

Harry thought it was for the best, knowing of her wand.

He had seen her struggle against it on a rare occasion, so he knew that her nature of remaining calm and searching for civility or peace was how it needed to be.

But she had improved so much since then.

That, he had also seen.

She clearly had more control, and so her anger could be allowed to surface every now and then.

Like a whale coming up to take a breath before diving back down into the sea.

Bel needed to surface to let out her anger before descending back into calmness.

The two had worked their way to the Slytherin common room.

Harry didn't know Bel had been inside once already.

She didn't tell him, like so many other things she didn't tell her friends.

It involved the messages she had been receiving from Voldemort.

But now she had stopped getting them, the thought of telling her friends about it all slipped her mind.

"Am I allowed to go in there?" Harry asked as they stood outside of the dark wooden door that would lead down to the Slytherin common room.

"No, but I am. If Snape finds out he can't do anything", Bel replied.

Harry just nodded, slightly nervous to enter the lion's den.

Slytherins weren't exactly his biggest fan.

"So ... how do we get in?" Harry then asked.

"Password. Changes every two weeks. Let's see ... what is it?" Bel replied before thinking aloud to herself.

"Entitlement?" Harry replied.

Bel chuckled softly before replying with a guess of her own.

"Pig-headed?"

Harry then laughed.

"Pure evil?" he posed.

The two friends were giggling to themselves that they didn't notice two Slytherins approach behind them.
