Chapter 14

3 weeks later
Gen's POV

It was a normal, rainy day in LA. Jared and I had just arrived at the OBGYN to see our baby.

"Genevieve Padalecki?" The doctor called. We both stood and walked back to the room.

"Pull your shirt up right under your breasts for me please?" She asked and I did as told.

I rolled down the band of my joggers to my hipline so she could do the ultrasound.

"Some chilly gel" she said as I jumped at the cold substance. Jared let out a laugh and I just glared at him.

"Looks to be your about 10 weeks now. Any new signs or symptoms?" She asked me.

"My morning sickness went away and I started to crave salty stuff" I told her.

"Ooh hot flashes too, they get the best of her" Jared said and I nodded.

She put the wand on my belly and we stared at the screen.

"Oh? Let me go get someone, I'll be right back" she told me with a gentle smile before walking out.

I looked at Jared who had a blank look on his face.

"What was that all about?" I asked quietly, "I'm not sure, hopefully everything is okay" he said as he pursed his lips together and looked at me with a sympathetic look.

A 2nd doctor came in, "hi I'm Dr. Jennings, let's have a look here" he said as he used the wand on my again.

There was a small bubble in the screen. "Uhm. I'm sorry, it looks like your in the early stages of miscarriage" he told us and I felt tears burn my eyes.

"No, god no" Jared said as he leant down and pressed his forehead to mine.

I let the tears fall as I cupped Jared's face.

"I'm sorry for your loss, we'll leave you a minute" Jennings said and they walked out.

"O-our baby. It's gone" I cried out. He showered my forehead in kisses and I felt his own tears falling onto my cheeks.

We pulled away and I wiped my face.

Our baby is gone. After all those years trying, we finally had our chance but it got swept away like dust flowing in the air.

"It's gonna be okay. C'mon, let's go home" he said and wiped my belly free of the gel.

I fixed my clothes and we walked out of the room, heading to leave.

"Mr and Mrs Padalecki, I truly am, sorry for your loss. I send my condolences to you and your family" Dr. Jennings said as he came up to us.

Jared just nodded at him and we left, not saying another word.

The drive home was silent. Jared's hand held mine the whole way and his thumb rubbed across my hand occasionally.

When we parked in the driveway, I undid my seatbelt but didn't get out.

I stared forward, tears still flowing.

Jared opened my door and picked me up, placing me on his lap as he sat in the passenger seat.

"I know" he said as I broke down again. My face buried itself into his chest and I sobbed, tears staining his shirt.

He rubbed my back and Jensen walked out to the car.

He and Misha were watching the kids for us.

"What happened?" He asked and I looked up at him.
