Chapter 52

Ryker's POV

I followed closely behind my sister until we reached her room.

"Maddie! Madison! What the hell happened?" I asked and she pulled me in her room before slamming the door shut.

"Dad-" she said as her voice broke.

"Dad OD'd 16 years ago, I was a baby. Mom left him and he tried to commit suicide Ryker" she said quietly.

I froze and my face softened.

"No" I said.

Although it was a long time ago, way before I was even born... I couldn't believe it.

Hearing your closest family member was suicidal at a time in his life, it was hard.

"No, there's no way mom could've been at fault. Do you see the way they look at each other?" I asked.

"That's because they've been together for over 16 years. But I'm telling you, dad took pills and I saw it" she said.

"Y-you saw it? A dream? A vision?" I asked and she nodded.

"Ry. He took pills and passed out on the floor, foaming from his mouth. I saw aunt Tara scream and uncle Elton run in and try to keep dad alive. Mom told me she left him and that's the reason" she said.

I wanted to cry. To yell at them both for keeping this huge secret.

I looked at her once again before walking out of the room.

Gunnar and the triplets were in the living room so I knew I'd find mom and dad in the kitchen.

"Why'd you do it?" I asked.

They looked at me and dad squinted.

"What are you talking about? What is he talking about babe?" He asked and turned to mom.

"The pills, why'd you OD?" I asked through gritted teeth, trying to be quiet.

He looked back at me and he looked as if he had seen a ghost.

"How do you-" he started but Maddie cut him off by walking in the room.

"Babygirl, oh my god" he said and walked towards her.

They hugged and he grabbed my shoulder and let me join them.

"I'm so sorry you guys had to find out. I'm sorry you had to see that Mads" he apologized.

"No dad, it's not your fault, it's moms" Maddie said and he pulled away.

"No. It was mine, completely" he denied.

"Then would you please explain? Because I can't comprehend the fact that my dad overdosed and was suicidal" I said.

"Look. We will talk in just a sec, let me get the kids in bed" he said.

"Oh and Maddie, Dalton went home, said he'd call you tomorrow" he added before he walked away.

Mom stood staring at us and I could tell she felt guilty.

She suddenly walked off and me and Maddie were left alone standing next to each other.

I grabbed her and hugged her.

"Promise me you'll always talk to me truthfully" I whispered.

"I promise" she replied.

Maddie and I were always close.

Growing up, she was the big sister that was literally my twin sister. Except, my dad wasn't hers.

"Okay. You two, sit down. Let's be honest about everything with everyone in the past" dad said as he and mom sat on one end of the table.
