Chapter 43

A few hours and some shivering later

"Ok. You are 9 centimeters and it's time to go back" the nurse said as she got done checking me.

I looked at Julian with worry and my eyes darted back and forth between his.

"It's okay, we're gonna meet Tiana soon babe" he said.

I took a breath and nodded.

We were wheeled into the delivery room, Julian and Y/n on each side of me.

"Let's do a practice push before the doctor comes in to deliver, is that okay with you Riley?" The nurse asked and I nodded.

"Go ahead and put your feet up here on the stirrups" she said.

I did as told and immediately felt pressure.

"Alright, when I start counting down from 10 I want you to focus on pushing down at your abdomen like your body is flexing the whole way" she said.

"Your chin can be pushed down against your chest if you need to" she said and I nodded.

"And 10, 9..." she counted.

My body felt extreme pressure and I felt like I could've been ripping in two.

"5, 4.. your doing so good" she said.

I pushed the hardest I could at those last couple seconds and breathed in as much air as possible.

The doctor came in and he watched me do the last few seconds.

"That was good, okay just like that again. 10, 9, 8..." she said, the doctor in front of me now.

I pushed again and felt more pain, even worse than before.

"You're doing good, I see her head" the doctor said.

I squeezed Julian's hand and gasped for air once I was done.

"Let's get an oxygen mask for her real quick" the nurse said as she and other came up to the top of the bed.

I felt myself panic and I started panting and shaking.

"Riley you're okay, you're doing such a good job. Calm down baby, I know it's uncomfortable" Y/n said as she rubbed my hair.

The heat and pain and loss of air was making me freak out and I started shaking my head no.

"No, don't say no. You can do this, you're strong" the nurse said.

"Okay give her a break, her stress levels are getting too high for baby to tolerate" the doctor said.

I was now uncontrollably crying and begging for her out.

Julian was crying too but trying to calm me down.

The mask was put on my face and I started to calm down a little bit.

"Riley look, your strong and your gonna meet your beautiful little girl as soon as you push her out. Just breathe okay?" Y/n said and I listened to her, calming down.

Once I felt comfortable, I started pushing on my own for as long as I could and as hard I could.

"Yes, yes this is what we're looking for!" The doctor exclaimed.

A few more pushes and I felt a bit of relief from the pain.

"Her heads out and my god she has some hair" the doctor told us.

"This is the easy part, just push a little more, she's almost here" the nurse said as she rubbed my leg.

I gave 3 more pushes and everything was gone.
