Chapter 76

At home

When we got home, I brought Maddie to my room and she sat on the edge of the bed.

"What's here?" I asked.

"I don't know who it is. I can't see a face, only a shadow- silhouette maybe. They aren't very tall and it stands outside of my bedroom door" she said.

"Since when do you keep your door open when you sleep?" I asked.

"If Duke comes downstairs for Luxe, I'm usually awake and I see it. It just stands there. And I don't feel like it wants to hurt anyone, it's curious" she said.

"Why didn't you tell me about this? Threatening or not, it's a spirit that sits here" I asked.

"I didn't want you to suggest us to move" she said.

"This is over the safety of our family, over your little family" I said.

"I know, and that's why I told Duke" she said.

"But he can't see it?" I asked and she shook her head.

"Okay well, keep tabs on it for me and let me know if it does something new" I said.

"Okay, I love you. Im gonna go with Duke to pick up the baby" she said.

"Love you too Mads" I smiled and she walked out.

Maddie's POV

"Whoever thought that I would be doing physical therapy while on vacation?" I laughed.

"Yeah well, be sure to keep in touch and let me know how that arm is doing" my physical therapist said.

She was sweet, and really helpful.

Luckily, she gave me some exercises to follow while we're in Texas since we will be there for about a month.

It's nearing the middle of July so we're spending the rest of the summer there.

"Alright, I'll see you next month" she waved and I smiled, walking outside.

Duke was playing with Luxe, swinging him on the swing. He's almost 8 months old now and has been trying the crawl which is exciting.

But now, everything is baby proofed.

"You boys ready?" I asked.

"Yep, let's go pack up and get on a plane" Duke said as he came over with Luxe.

"Hey bubba" I tickled his back and he giggled.

"He'll be one so soon" I said.

"I know, and now, he really understands things so I'm pretty excited for his birthday" Duke said and I nodded.

He got him in his carseat as I got in the passenger waiting.

Duke soon began driving back to our house.

Dad left around a week ago with Gunnar so it's just the boys and me. With Moose and Tigger of course.

We would fly tonight out to Austin and stay at uncle Zach's for the month we are there.

I've been on leave from work since the accident even though I tell Rachel I'm fine.

Delilah still came over and checked in, as well as the Glee kids.
